This is a wonderful disc, but don't listen to it's 50 minutes of waltzes in one session. You'll become very fatigued; exhausting. So, combine a piece with a pianoconcerto or a symphony of another composer and you'll love it. Next day, put another track on etc. The music making is great.
Leh�r's way of orchestrating waltzes tends to go to the heavy side (Strauss jr. as an example is lighter); the recording makes that a little bit more worse, it's sometimes boomy. The orchestra is larger too. But Strauss and Leh�r are from a different period. Leh�r has digested his Wagner and Puccini. Strauss couldn't. So if you only want the lighter stuff, try the Leh�r but be patient. If you know Leh�r you'll get some stuff never recorded before like the great Adria Waltz. Thanks CPO for this enterprising release.
