3.0 out of 5 stars Region 2 edition - Where's the Czech?, 23 Feb 2004

Odd - i bought this Region 2 edition today in HMV London. Yet it does not yet seem to feature on this site.
It has been well-reviewed by customers on Amazon.com but i have to knock a couple of stars off, myself.
a). It is expensive: you do get 56 generally well-restored films, including many classics. But there are notable omissions (where is What's Opera, Doc??) and generally a feeling that, for the price and amount of space available on a DVD disc, they could have included a lot more films. There's only one Road Runner included - so let's hope they are planning a further disc devoted to these most brilliant examples of Chuck Jones' work.
b). The 'extras' are not QUITE as jaw-dropping as the cover would have you believe. Each disc has two or three talking-head mini-docs on each main character, but each is only 2-5 minutes long. Many of the creative artists who worked on the films are now dead so we tend to get their off-spring instead... A more in-depth feature on the story of the Looney Tunes would have been preferable. The quality of the commentaries is very variable too - some fascinating and touching, others repetative and bland. That said there are some interesting clips and a brief sound feature of Mel Blanc recording some lines as Bugs and Porky.
c). The cover is not very informative: there is no track-listing. I am sure there will be many people who will not realise that the two 'All-Stars' volumes included in this set are seperately available with exactly the same content.
One glaring error concerns the LANGUAGES: the cover clea
