Superb!!!, 22 Sep 2003
A very worthy greatest hits compilation on a band that have been consistently reappraised over the years and currently enjoy high critical acclaim. With ever changing personnel, seemingly the only constant has been the focus and passionate vocals of Kevin Rowland (Dexy). The pop smashes are all here - as they should be -along with songs from interesting BBC sesions and several newies from the post Y2K era."Geno" and "Come On Eileen" are still, for many of us, key records in the jukebox of our adolescence. Buy & enjoy!!!

Outstanding, 26 May 2006
If you wanted to, you could be very petty and easily find fault with this, after all, there's no: 'Burn It Down', 'Keep It', 'Old', 'Liars A To E', and 'One Of Those Things', but let's face it, if you were to put every outstanding Dexy's album track on this, there would be no need for their three albums. In fact, when you stop to think about it, you realise that this compilation has been very well put together, with a lot of love and care (I believe the great man - Kevin Rowland, had a big say, on what went on this). There's the hits, the much loved album tracks, a couple of excellent live recordings, and even two new tracks, including 'Manhood', which on a personal note, I can so relate to the lyrics to. So whether you're a casual fan or a diehard, there's something here for everyone.
Also whilst listening to this again recently, it struck me how contempory their sound is at the moment, because if you're into bands like: Kaiser Chiefs, Hard-Fi, and The Ordinary Boys, you would love the tracks lifted from 'Searching For The Young Soul Rebels', plus all the other early 80's big brass tunes, like 'Show Me' and 'Plan B' etc. Also if you're into bands like: The Feeling, and The Magic Numbers, you may like the more melodic and mellow sounds of: 'Too-Rye-Ay' and 'Don't Stand Me Down'.

A Genius, 4 Aug 2005
Let's cut to the chase....i bought this for the two new songs (Manhood and My Time In England). Was it worth it? Without a shadow of a doubt. Two works of staggering genius wich stand head and shoulders above anything else released in the last few years.Still,it 's hearbreaking that there's been no new album lately because the songs are immense , beautifully played by the band and Kevin is on top,top form. What the hell are record companies thinking of nowadays? The rest of the compilation is the same old (glorious) stuff which we've adored for years ,the only omission i can moan about is Reminisce(part2) from the sublime Don't Stand Me Down album a track which can still bring a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat and that's from a 40 year old big strapping bloke. That's the power of Kevin Rowland.A genius and a legend...i love you man.
