This 1976 rape revenge movie features Margaux Hemingway as Chris McCormick a successful model fronting a lipstick ad campaign. Chris' 13-year-old sister Kathy (Mariel Hemingway) has a crush on her music teacher and experimental composer, Gordon Stuart (Chris Sarandon), and invites him to a secluded beach photo shoot but it’s soon apparent he has an unhealthy interest in Chris.
The film starts to a very 60’s-70’s ‘arty’ opening sequence and the whole film strolls along at a reasonable pace as it builds the interaction of the three main leads. The rape is actually quite late in appearing but when it does it’s violent and unpleasant, intensified by Gordon’ eerie electronic music. ****** POSSIBLE SPOILER*** The ensuing court case takes an unusual stance [for the time] by not making the disinterested Chris a ‘clear-cut’ victim, as we are led to believe that there was some doubt as to whether Chris might have been actually playing out her sexual fantasies, but some of the rape scene has been cut and this is not so clear anymore as its now all left to the court case. After the rape of her sister, it takes on a ‘Death Wish’ slant which is all too short. ******.
While still intense, the film [ground-breaking in it’s day] has dated and the ending seems rushed and unrealistic but -despite the unsavoury subject, remains entertaining and is deserving of a **** adult rating.

The rape scene was cut out from the Spanish import.

A promising premise is undermined by weak dialogue, a farcical and highly implausible denouement when Margaux goes on the rampage in a cocktail dress, and a rushed final court scene.
The film's message is hamfistedly banged home.
Not an essential viewing experience IMO.

Very "aged" bit still quite an interesting Picture... Nice to remember that models were not that thin at this time...
