5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 21 Dec 2004
In the introduction to this DVD, Jon Lord says that he hasn't "played straight, improvised, 12-bar, funky blues...for a long time" and this is pretty much what you get. If it's your thing, then you are in for a real treat. The Hoochie Coochie Men are a very impressive outfit. Highlight tracks for me are "Lonesome traveller blues" (one of the best songs I've heard in a long time, with a great bass line), "The money doesn't matter", and "Dallas". There are a couple of "skips" as well though - a slow version of "Strange brew" which didn't grab me, and the original version of Led Zep's "Whole lotta love" which I've never really liked - great riff, bad song. All in all though, this is a must have.
