3.0 out of 5 stars Better buy "live 1984", 3 Aug 2004
By Nikiforos V. Skoumas (Athens Greece, Cambridge UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Mark Stanway former Grand Slam key player,is making an effort to present all his material from his collaboration with Phil Lynott
As expected some of these items are fine others are not. So unless you are a Phil Phanatic don't buy this, the sound quality insn't good since it was taken right from the mixing desk of the marquee club. If you still want to buy any of Stanway's "treasures" ,try "Phil lynott live in sweden 1983" The sound quality tears apart even the lizzy album "Life/live"
(recorded the same year)
If you still want to get a taste of Grand slam live try "Live 1984" ,way better

3.0 out of 5 stars A raw Album - Quality Hidden within despite the poor quality, 6 Jun 2007
If You can get over the poor and to be fair expected poor quality of these tracks there is something which any Lizzy fan will realise is that despite Lynotts obvious physical and social demise at this time the guy's talent still shines through. What saddened me when listening to this (I am a Lizzy Fan and saw Grandslam at Sheffield Polytechnic students union hall in and was Blown away to be honest at the energy of the band) is that this is a set of potentially great songs, OK some fillers which are basically Lynott ad-libbing (Here we go etc) but on the whole very, very good.

This stuff would have made a great Album if like Military Man, Dedication (OK after PL died and his voice from the live recordings used), and Nineteen the following had been given the same spit and polish in the studio :

Harlem
Breakdown
Sisters of Mercy
Can't Get Away
Gay Boys
Crime Rate
White Shade of Pale

One definetly for the enthusiasts only and you'll realise how good this guy really was.
