Product Description

Offering outstanding value for money, the Daytek P818 multi-region DVD player supports multiple CD/DVD media formats as well as offering MP3 CD playback. It measures 430 mm (W) x 58 mm (H) x 295 mm (D) and is finished in a stylish two-tone silver and metallic blue. This is complemented by the LCD display on the right-hand side of the front of the unit, which displays relevant disc information in a discrete, yet attractive manner. The player features a high-quality 96-kHz/24-bit Audio D/A converter for superior audio reproduction of encoded discs. It also has a built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder, enabling you to hook up directly to a suitable amplifier. Alternatively, you could use the optical, or coaxial digital outputs to connect to an external amp and 5.1 decoder. Finally, if you don’t want to take advantage of surround sound, you can rely on the audio passed through the SCART cable to your TV, or use the analogue stereo audio outputs to hook up to a hi-fi and speaker setup. The video output produced from the player is via a competent 10-bit video decoding chip. The player supports PAL and NTSC playback and is switchable between 4:3 and 16:9 screen aspect ratio. The user manual, although quite short, providing basic information on setting up the player and working through the setup screens. The full-function remote control allows you to access all of the player's options/features.

    I've had no problems with this player, it looks fine, plays fine and comes with all the needed cables in the box. The player's really light and can easily be placed on top of other equipment. If you have a Dolby surround sound system you'll need to buy a fibre optic cable to patch the player in, I've done that and no problems so far. The multi region system seems to work fine, so far I've played European, Japanese and American DVDs in the player successfully. Can't believe it was only £40!

    The Daytek P818 DVD Player is a brilliant machine for just £39.99. This DVD Player is made by Daewoo, all they've done is slap Daytek badge on it, but not at the expense of quality or features. I've used it no end since buying it to replace another top branded machine, which give up the ghost on me just outside the year. As yet with the Daytek I've experienced no problems. I would give the machine 9/10, but that's purely for the reason the manuals rather rubbish. So I rate it with 5 stars as the manufacturing isn't under question.

    Does exactly what it says on the box. It plays dvd's from any region (I've tried regions 1,2,3 and 4 on it with no problem). The picture is excellent. The remote control works perfectly which is better than some of the cheaper players! A scart lead was included in the price.
