Manufacturer's Description

Total Club Manager 2004, from the makers of FIFA, puts you straight into the dugout of your favourite football team. Whether you're fighting for league survival or challenging to win the championship, TCM 2004 will put you in total control. Manage your club the way you think it should be managed. Managerial duties include buying and selling players in the most realistic transfer market to date, creating your own training sessions, disciplining players or granting them bonuses, dealing with national media and, most importantly, keeping the fans happy. Total Club Manager 2004 realistically portrays the pressures of the modern game. Do the job well and you could see yourself as the future national manager. If you fail, it may be time to start looking for another club.

3.0 out of 5 stars good, but not great, 30 Nov 2003
I decided to buy this game purely because I wanted a change from the usual CM series which I buy every year.
On first look it was amazing, the game interface was brilliant and I loved the pickup and play theme to the game. But most of all, I absolutely love the FIFA match engine that is incorporated into the game, I love being able to see the team that I have created actually playing instead of imagining it.

So why didn't I give this game 5 stars.
Well the reason is simple.
For hardcore football fans with tons of knowledge about the sport, it leaves you slightly flabbergasted
I like to scout young talents all around the world and nurture them into greats, but unfortunately with this game, there isn't any real depth to it.
What I am trying to say is that you only get a measly 25,000 players in the game where as with CM 03/04 you get almost a quarter of a million. So you will have to make do with famous or well known players in Total club manager.

So for gamers who love the thought of managing your own football team, this game is perfect for you.
But for real hardcore football fans who need a real complication in your managerial world, CM 03/04 is still the king!

4.0 out of 5 stars Total Club Manager is BRILLIANT, 16 Dec 2004
This game is so easy to get into. The only thing you've gotta watch is that u do a full install otherwise u can't access the database editor. Apart from that this game is a massive improvement on FAPLM 2002. The big improvements on FAPLM 2002 are obvious straight away. U have a reserve team in the british leagues (if enough players) u can start as a beginner and work your way up to Football God and your managerial level improves as u meet criteria in training sessions. U can recruit your own staff, be an International manager at the same time as being a club manager. U could, if you want to take complete control of the club, but that's not advisable. U can buy a house when u have enough money. U can get married, have children, buy cars etc. in your private life. U can buy whichever players u think will win u championships and european titles but only if u have enough money. All in all a very good game with a very good 3D match engine and additional alternative match views.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, 22 April 2004
I have play the FIFA series for years now and cannot go a year withoutbuying the next update. I was chuffed with FIFA 2004 and altough it tookme a while to stop sulking about maybe FIFA 2003 was betterm after playing04 and going back to 03, 04 is definately so much better. Then, alongcomes TCM 2004, so after playing a brief demo I went out and bought thegame.
What can I say, I was chuffed to see that I can arrange the merchandisingof the club, I can put how much I want tickets to be sold at as well aspricing season tickets and friendlies in a bid to generate revenue fortransfers. But what really makes this game special is the stadium editor, with you transfer kitty you can design a stand, up to 5-6 tiers, pressboxes, exec boxes, glood lights, colour seats with writing and create yourpersonalised stadium. You can fill the corners in and even put the awaystand as 500 seats in a corner with a fence as terracing (those lowly awayfans can suffer).
You do your buying and selling in pre-season, get to the start of theseason after building a new stand and buying a hot striker and then guesswhat..you actually get to play the match as long as you have fifa 2004,they link up superbly and you go straight to the match with your tactics,players...new stand...all uploaded and raring to go. you beat Southampton1-0, do your after macth interview with a series of answers (the fans havea rating for you dependent on your perfomance and answers) then go intothe fray with board negotiations about different players.
Another nice touch is that you don't HAVE TO do the merchandising, you canselect your assistant manager to deal with this instead, you can employ astadium manager to arrange the advertisiment hoardings agreements and letyou get on with the football. It's simply up to you. you have your ownprivate life page which, by means of saving your wages you can buy cars, holiday homes, houses and boats, you can get married and have kids (thefans love a family man) and you can even invest some wages in the stockmarket, leave it 4 months and hope that it trebles. In short, for die hardFIFA lovers, this is a must game that adds champ man and fifa togetherbrilliantly. I myself am a champ man lover, but when I go back to CM03/04, despite a pentium 2.2GHZ with 512 DDR RAM, it appears to drapbetween days as you wait for that infamous 'processing' bar to finish. With TCM you can play FIFA with all the trimmings and go from week to weekmuch quicker. Regarding players, there are 25,000 (much less than champman) but heh,you only need 20. You can get some youth, train these up, youcan build youth camps (with enough money) accross the world and fly your12 year old south agergentian boy over to you ryouth set up and watch himprogress to a fantatsic forward. You even have to keep his parents happywith a home and car.
You have a 3d sim city view (much like the game'vegas big city') where you have to build your shops, malls, raliywaystation, girls boarding school, training pitches, club centre, travelagent, restaurants, surgeries,...it's like building your very own Chelseavillage that you get to look around (with stadium in the background, uptoo it's current development). If you take over yeovil, you're greetedwith a shop in a van, a rough grass field for training and a medicalcentre worse than the NHS. Oh the challenge....
There is even an editor, so adding yourself to the game and increasingthe attendances for all the prem and div 1 teams to role that money in ismost satisfying.
Lastly, the thing I like most about this game is that you can go as muchin depth with it as you can, or just skip the days and go straigh to thematches and enjoy the other features.
Definately a must.......
