Fast, even cooking is guaranteed with the 2000 watt booster button which distributes steam instantly to all tiers. From a tray of vegetables to a full family meal, all requirements can be handled with the large 10L food capacity and removable basket bases for cooking large items. Storage is always an issue with any kitchen appliance, but Tefal makes this worry disappear. The Vitamin Plus Steamer has baskets that neatly fit inside eachother for easy storage. The external easy-fill water inlet allows you to fill the base any time, even during actual steaming. This steamer is also easy to clean thanks to all non-electrical parts being dishwasher safe. Includes a rice bowl, integrated egg holder and great recipes.

I've just been onto Tefal's customer helpline to report that my steamerleaks, not from a split or a crack but from a hole in the back of the baseunit which is obviously there as part of the design.
I was told, "..we're aware that this happens when the Vitamin Plus buttonis used but that's what it's intended to do".
The person I spoke to went on to say that of the 'hundreds of people' whohad bought the same product it was generally found that the leak didn'tprove a problem if users either put kitchen towels underneath the steameror positioned the entire unit on a sink drainer whilst in use.
Before opting to purchase this model I spent a considerable amount of timeresearching a variety of different steamers. At no stage whatsoever did Ifind any reference in Tefal's information or technical specifications tothe... erm... 'feature' described above. Had I known that I would eitherneed to swathe this thing in absorbent towelling, or effectively positionit over a bucket, in order to stop my kitchen cupboards getting a soakingthen naturally I would have chosen an alternative product.
I was informed that Tefal intends to amend its future product literatureto include details regarding this issue but in the meantime I wouldcertainly advise potential purchasers to be aware of it.
Frustratingly I couldn't be more delighted with the quality of food thatthis steamer can produce but the hassle of accommodating that leak issimply too much of an inconvenience to warrant persevering with. A greatshame.

The Tefal steamer is spacious, quick and effectively cooks a whole meal in one. However, I have experienced problems with the Vitamin Boost. This will not always turn off, and has lead to fracturing of the baskets and the loss of the handle on the lid. I have had this steamer about 6 months and use it twice a week. I have now ordered a different steamer as mine is dangerous to use. Please retain your receipt until you are sure that all is functioning correctly.

My Mum has an old version of the steamer, which has lasted nearly two years before the glue has begun to deterioriate and fall apart. Her steamer has been in use almost everyday!

On the 27th June 2004 I purchased the above item and have experienced the following problems. a) significant leaks from the bottom of the unit which floods the kitcken work top and runs onto the floor.I understand that this is the design intent.Maybe they should sell it with a tray or at advertsise it as a unique feature.
b) The lid handle fractured at the top which again I think is a fault by design.A sealed space experiencing high temperatures.
c) The bottom basket has fractured around the top edge making it unuseable. With the bottom basket out of commission the whole unit becomes almost useless as the only basket that fits is the surprise surprise is the bottom unit.
I have have the earlier model of the Tefal steamer without any problems and only upgraded to take advantage of the vitamin plus feature.
To say the least I am extremely disappointed with this product.
Hot water dripping from the base is in my view a severe safety hazard and the robustness of the product falls far short of todays reliability expectations.
I certainly will not recommend this product to my friends and associates.
