Product Description

Product Description

American Conquest: Fight Back is a stand-alone expansion pack for American Conquest--Three Centuries of War--with even more frantic combat and more desperate power struggles raging across the American continent. The Spanish sound the attack on Yucatan amid fierce Maya and Aztec resistance. The Germans put all their efforts into finding the legendary Eldorado. The Pontiac Uprising ends in a terrifying blood bath between the Indians and the British. And the Russians will do anything to conquer Alaska at the cost of the Haida. There is a fantastic bonus for shrewd strategists: the great new "battlefield" mode. In this mode, two players of equal might are pitted against each other. Tactical skill alone will determine victory or defeat in single-player and multi-player modes.

4.0 out of 5 stars It really is an expansion pack., 14 Oct 2003
I loved "American Conquest" and I Liked "Fight Back" But in all fairness you just cant top it only add to it and thankfully this expansion done that. The Battlefield scenarios are tricky at first but you get used to the complexity of the morale, and on the whole it is a rather good feature however if you were expecting Medieval Total War Battles then you will be disappointed. The new countries and units are intresting and a novel idea but they dont do much except add to the depth of the game. The new missions are enjoyable and challenging which is something inherited from its parent. On the whole the game is most certainly worth the money and will keep all strategy gamers stuck firmly in their seat for at least a week or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Endless battles - no control ?", 8 Jul 2004
I love cdv games! I am a total cossacks fan!
The graphics and dive in playability enable you to become totaly emerged in a new world! I love this game, the morale and experience of the little on screen charactors make you become more emotionally involved.
The editor section is great - where you can make your own world and then adapt it for proper a1 gaming against the computer later: I love creating the animals and making them part of my army, Bears are good in combat but Crocs are the best! lol
One little gripe, just a little! In any of cossacks games the computer opponents just continues to endlessly make more people! They just keep building new houses and keep charging down the banks at you! Population control would have been great, where for example, you could have an equal battle of a selected '2000' population limit, more so in the random scenes, and after that the computer stops making more of the enemy! A good way of planning and gaining victory!
Verdict - buy this game and like me, buy cossacks 2 Napoleon wars! Just cant get enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars More of the same great strategy game, 5 Mar 2004
I have all the cossacks games and AC, and recently purchased Fight Back, so it is fair to say I am a fan of the games! However, it remains true that the graphics of the original cossacks can still be seen even in Fight Back.

That said, Fight Back does have some features of its own, such as visible yellow dots whilst issuing movement orders to formations. I personally value this change although it is small. Naturally there are additional nations, but they are not too similar (for example Russia and the Netherlands have a stable for producing cavalry). On thew subject of Russia, cossacks fans will be glad to have register cossacks and strelets at their command once again.

There are also new campaigns, and the new battlefield mode is a very different game (but rock hard). Another addition is more (and better) music tracks, which adds much more atmosphere to the game.

All in all, a worthy addition to any fan's collection, but the one bug I have found is that the sound doesn't work if I play as Portugal (hmmmmmm).
