Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Get Over It is the second album by the Nextmen, Cambridge lads Brad Balloo and Dom Search. Their debut album in 2000, Amongst the Madness, caused a fuss in the UK hip-hop scene with its inherent funkiness, tight polished production and its considered collaborations with US and UK rappers.

Get Over It brings back all of those qualities, but adds a bigger sense of originality, a more diverse approach to production and an even more impressive collective of guest MCs. The opening cut, "Fire Walking", is an in-your-face headbanger and gets the album off to a cracking start. The party vibe is continued on songs such as Ty's title track, Rodney P's skanking "Hear What I Say", Dynamite MC's "High Score" and Soulson's "Put Your Hands Up" and Cutty Rank's "Silent Weapon".

Sandwiched in between these bonafide rump-shakers are a number of milder bumps that are equally as persuasive. Talented rapper Penultimate lends his erudite rhymes to no less than three tracks, J Live appears on "31st February" and Ty gets mellow for the end track "Marlon Brando". It might not be news that UK hip-hop is the strongest it's ever been, but it's a continual source of pride to see standards being raised and boundaries being pushed like this from our own shores. --Paul Sullivan

5.0 out of 5 stars Still excellent, 16 Sep 2003

The Nextmen's previous 3 albums (1 studio lp, 1 mix & 1 remix compilation) have all been brilliant; funky, original and diverse. This effort maintains their high standards and also sees them embrace the sound of UK garage, giving the album even more flavour. The rapping is great as well (I often find that there is quite a gap between the quality of UK hip-hop production and the rapping) making this is a really complete album.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor, 6 Dec 2003
By A Customer
This was a disappointment. THe remix album 'That's What Friend's Are For' is by far the best --- much more varied, tighter and original than this. Afterward, their first 'Amongst The Madness' ranks highly, but this album is weak and is full of tracks that just don't cut it. On the lame tip, sorry Nextmen, but you guys can do much better. The same samples are often used as in their first and in the same way with the same techniques employed. 'Samemen'? Sure they'd hate to be accused of this. Look into purchasing the others first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Work!!, 17 Jul 2003
Not going to go into great detail but honestly, if you are a fan of UK hip-hop, ragga or just generally big-ass club-rocking party tunes you need this!

At the moment its my album for putting on at work whenever I start to get a bit fed up (eg constantly!!). Just sit back and imagine you're packed in a club with sweat dripping of the ceiling and everyone around you goind ever so slightly mental!
