Product Description

Product Description

Men of Valor: The Vietnam War is a revolutionary new PC and console shooter from 2015, the creators of the award-winning Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Men of Valor: The Vietnam War is an historical action experience that portrays infantry combat during the Vietnam War. Combining the latest Unreal technology with the gameplay expertise of 2015, Men of Valor immerses the player in the humid jungles of Southeast Asia in the most controversial conflict of the modern era.

Men of Valor follows an American Marine through the early stages of the conflict in Vietnam to the Tet Offensive. Touching on the some of the most familiar scenes of the war as they exist in the popular imagination, the player guides his group of fellow soldiers through the hardship and confusion of the battlefield, bonding with them as they do their duty for their country with the heroism and valour typical of the American soldier, but unsung during the turbulent times.

The intensity of the historical battlefield is recreated with cunning AI, detailed graphics, and interactive scripted sequences that put the player in the middle of scenes like those in the finest war films. The storyline follows the player through the major actions in the conflict, from search and destroy missions around Da Nang airbase to the Tet offensive and the counterattack on Hue.

A cast of AI-controlled characters accompanies the player through the missions, and he learns their value and mourns their loss as the war progresses. The game supports a cooperative mode that allows the player to experience the entire tour of duty with his friends, and various multiplayer modes allow the player to experience the war from the perspective of North Vietnamese Army or Viet Cong guerrillas as well as US Forces.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best vietnam game yet!, 21 Feb 2005
By A Customer
This game is excellent. Unusually you play a black conscript who does several years in Vietnam. He goes from initailly doing village sweeps to jungle battles, the Tet offensive and finally the siege of Khe Sanh, where he saves his brother's life.
The are a few niggles such as machine gun emplacements continuing to fire after you killed the gunner, enemies running upto you without firing and so on. The big battles in the second half of the game are excellent. The main problems are not being able to choose the weapons you carry, such as carrying a sniper rifle or RPG, no save game, and in some levels you can not pick up weapons from the enemy.
Overall this is an exccellent game.

2.0 out of 5 stars theres no valor in this!, 21 Nov 2004
By A Customer
im disapointed to say the least. The game comes complete with four disks and therefore takes a while to install. The reason for being disapointed is that the game to me feels as though it has been rushed - despite taking years to develop.

The fact that there are no save game options is a real let down as the harder the game gets the more frustrating it is to restart the mission everytime you die - thus making the game very repetetive. The game dialog is entertaining at first, but you will soon get use to the repetetive and pointless swearing throughout the missions, which to be honest really started to get on my nerves after half an hour.

I bought the game at a discount price and I feel ripped off to say the least. There are also a significant number of bugs within the game, so I decided to download and install the official patch for the game, which rendered the game unusable, even after restoring it to the original settings. The only good thing about the game is that the graphics are superb, but then again, all the latest games have good graphics. If you are a medal of honour fan, I would advise that you purchase moh:pacific assault instead of this. If your looking for a Vietnam game, there are plenty on the market at the moment, but none that I would particularly recommend. Not Impressed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating!, 2 Jun 2005

I have to agree with other reviewers. In terms of game play this is not bad and I did enjoy the Vietnam experience, but not being able to save was very frustrating. In some cases you get killed at the end of a long sequence and you get dragged all the way back to the start.
This could have been a real winner but the frustration element pulls it back to a 3 mark
