Product Description

GamesMaster Magazine

"An excellent translation to 3D. 83%."

Product Description

Continuing to capture the true essence of the game in Worms 3D teams of worms battle across bizarre randomly generated landscapes, or across finely crafted custom-designed levels utilising an arsenal of devastating weapons. The game play remains unchanged, featuring turn-based fighting and relying on the player to judge the trajectory and strength of their shots in order to inflict maximum damage on opponents. All the favourite weapons such as bazooka, grenade, dynamite, air strike and sheep are present including some new additional ones. Defensive tactics can also be employed as you choose to dig in with buildings, trenches, sandbags or fortifications, whilst buildings on the landscapes can also provide shelter against attacks.

Adapt your strategy to the weapons available, landscape and each new opponent you play. With a multitude of tactics available, coupled with the ever changing, randomly generated landscapes, no battle will ever be the same. Worms 3D is set in a more exciting and immersive game world than ever before, with the emphasis on great multi-player action and challenging single-player fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Advice for pre-release purchasers, 9 Oct 2003
By Mo "mo79uk" (London, UK) - See all my reviews

If you're planning to purchase Worms 3D for the PC - before it's released in about a month as I write - then this review is for you, from a person who has played the 60mb timed-out and limited one level multiple player game (albeit by myself...) on a machine bought this August (not that you'll need anything that powerful).

In print Worms 3D sounds great, a natural evolution to a hit series that is nearly a decade old (the first game was MS-DOS based), with a chance for it to be introduced to the console generation (but will probably still sell most for the PC - it was made for it!), and in reality Worms 3D really does look set to be the best version ever.

Not too much has changed, which is a great thing - if it ain't broke, don't fix it - you still get landscapes to destroy (more thoroughly this time), play with a variety of weapons, and laugh at the upgraded cute arcade graphics and humour of genocidal garden life.
What has changed is that it's much more detailed, and much more skill and strategy - not to say this is a Rubix cube - will be demanded initially as you're now dealing with a proper 3D game. Thus, if you're familiar with 2D Worms you'll have to get a bit acquainted with how this game moves and controls - which isn't long. Once you are blasting away you'll be hooked.

And this is based upon a demo - which is only an unfinished taster of the game, which will include full multi-player play, single-player games and mission and other goodies (speculated to fill 2CDS) including a terrain editor.

I know my review may not be entirely unuseful to the finished product, but I hope I can guide those who are not sure about how this game's going to play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worms 3D, 9 Dec 2003

(REAL NAME)
This game is exellent. Team 17 was the pioneer games developer for the Commodore Amiga back in the early nineties with title's like Alien Breed and Super Frog. I was suprised to see that they have worked with SEGA which shows they have come a long way. This game is a typical team 17 game. Lots of fun. Hilarous speech tons of weapons and unlimited landscape's to battle on. This game has an endless lifespan thanks to its online capability powered by gamespy. I have had hours of fun playing against French, German, and many other people from other parts of the world. This game is definitely worth the money. The only point I would like to emphasise is if you get this game to enjoy it you are going to need a pretty good modern graphics card! The new G Force FX should do the trick nicely. The only downside which has nothing to do with the game is extremelly annoying title music (in my opinion) with a song called "Shake your Coconuts"

5.0 out of 5 stars Worms 3D, 6 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Worms 3d is amazing if its your type of game, turn based cartoony action. though i've only played the demo i can tell you that its every bit as good as the 2d versions.

Basically, nothing's changed apart from the visuals, the sheep and the airstrikes still remain, and worm's sarcatic remarks are all here.

The only other difference to the previous games is the aiming system is now in a sweet first person view and I think makes aiming a LOT easier.

I'll be seeing you online on 14th November..
