Product Description

Product Description
From Firefly Studios, creators of the Stronghold series, Space Colony promises a gaming experience that's literally out of this world. Through a series of unique and pioneering missions players will be given the opportunity to combine all the intricacies of running a Space Colony with the most dysfunctional crew ever assembled, while fighting off aliens and attempting to make a profit.

Taking your team of starry-eyed misfits with you, you must search out and colonise some of the galaxy's most inhospitable planets. Starting from scratch your colony will need to quickly grow from a simple life-supporting pod into a sprawling meteoric metropolis, capable of keeping this most eclectic troop of tenants happy. As difficult as this can be, life in the colony isn't just about surviving, it's about big bucks and you're going to need to use every resource this planet has to offer to make them. Whether that's capturing the locals to create an alien zoo to attract tourists, mining the planet's core for materials, building a discotheque big enough to accommodate both country and rock or defending your settlement against alien attack, whatever it takes, responsibility for the colony's survival rests squarely with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Sims!!!, 2 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Space Colony arrived yesterday and I'm hooked already. It's like a cross between Big Brother and a good old strategy game.

I was really surprised how easy it was to get up and running - normally you need to play these games with a mouse in one hand and the instructions in the other, but with Space Colony I was straight into the thick of it, getting to know the characters, trying to find somewhere to put in a disco and a sauna... it's real hoot!!

The characters are great fun, too. Stig the Norwegian biker and Tammy the trailer park girl keep falling out, and two of the lads are getting friendlier than I expected (never seen THAT in a game before).

Considering how much is going on in the background, it's not that demanding on your PC either. I've got it running very happily on a P3 800MHz.

All in all, I thoroughly recommend this game. My only complaint is that I've got a lot of work to do and I can't spend enough time playing it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't stop playing!!, 12 Jan 2004
The producers of this have thought long and hard and come up with an excellent game, which mixes personality management, action and a unique atmosphere. You set up a colony on one of the several planets on offer and go about stripping it of all its resouces. Each planet is different- some have aliens on...some don't! I like the open endedness about it, and you can do pretty much what you want. Look out for Nailer- he has to eat and drink every 2 minutes! The characters are great- although I find Slim a bit annoying for some reason- he's just lazy.
I like games that mix simulation, adventure, strategy and atmosphere. This does that- and it doesn't take long to load either! It is a sort of 'sims in space' but it offers it's own unique merits too, and in some ways better. If you like The Sims- you will love this!

4.0 out of 5 stars space colony, 16 Sep 2003
By A Customer
Space Colony is a game like the sims but you get a different view and you collect resources and fight. It is alot better than firefly studios stronghold which is a very good game, that shows this is going to be great. I would recommend this to a sims fan or a building game fan.
