Worms 3D - The next dimension, 1 Nov 2003
I've been a member of the worms community for many, many years...I focus tested Worms 3D for Team17 in April, and again in July. I thoroughly enjoyed it every time - it was a great game, even with the bugs. Now that it is released, I am happy to see that they have ironed a lot of the bugs out, making this one incredible game. The sound and music are incredible, and done by Bjorn Lynne, who did the soundtracks for all the other worms games - so it's up to the same standard. The graphics are well done and very sharp - and they also have a low usage of processing power, so a lower spec PC will be able to run it well. The blockyness of the terrain sometimes takes people a while to get used to - but that's the price to pay for fully destructable terrain. The game has a lot of replay value, with an infinite number of randomly generated landscapes to make. The main problem at the moment is online play - it is laggy and buggy. Team17 say they know what the causes of this are, and are working with Gamespy to iron out these - a service pack will be out shortly to fix these problems. If you enjoy strategy or humour, and/or you liked any of the previous Worms games, then I recommend buying Worms 3D as soon as you can!
