4.0 out of 5 stars A wonder Indeed, 5 Sep 2003
I have listened to this album for a while now and I have to say it is a great album to relax to, dance to and definitely one to put a huge big smile back on your face.

The album is lovingly compiled by DJ Spinna and DJ Bobbito, who bought out The series 'Wonder Wrote it,' on limited edition. The artists vary from latino greats to some soul legends, but all sound fresh and funky as offer us their versions of some Stevie's classics.

Jose Felciano's version of Golden Lady laid down just before Ray the legend' Barretto just has you closing your eyes thinking you are in Cuba with a Cuba Libre hanging in your hand while the sea splashes your toes - nice!!!

It then starts to up the pace with some serious funky numbers including Superstition by Sergi Mendes and Brazil 77.

The end starts to mellow it down somewhat with Minnie Ripperton and Main Ingredient, but still keeps the funk.

The sleeve notes are comprehensive, which adds that little bit extra to a nice album.

Keep up the good work Harmless. And to those of you out there, if you love Stevie, but it. If you love Funk and Soul, buy it. If you love putting the smile back on your face, buy it. In fact just do yourself a favour and buy it cause you will enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for a fan of varied music and want to hear stevie in a new light..., 7 Feb 2008
By Mr. R. Last "DJ_CUCKOO" (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This album is for someone who is a fan of funk/jazz funk music and will appreciate interpretations of Stevie wonder accordingly, with the odd soul attempt by people like Diana Ross.

I liked the album mainly because I like all sorts of music, for example I don't think Diana Ross was anywhere near the best of Motown and if you are looking at this album wondering what her version will sound like and not as excited about anything else on the album, then maybe this isn't for you.

This album also covers more than just the hits, so an album buyer (not a greatest hits buyer) is more likely to love this album for it's alterations of the originals mainly because you will know the songs, not that thats to important, it's cool music without the knowledge.

The obscurity and funkin' out grooves are certainly not supermarket music to the keen ear for varied tunes that venture further than popular tunes for the masses of safe music listeners.

2.0 out of 5 stars Isn't she lovely? No., 2 Feb 2006
This CD was a real disappointment for me. Stevie Wonder is one of my favourite song writers, full of melody and rhythm, so to hear some of his best songs reduced to camp, supermarket music is a real shame. The tracks by the Supremes and First Choice raise the standard a little but after cringing my way through the first ten tracks, switching it off would have had a similar effect. I don't want to kick a man when he's down, but the mixing on CD1 is terrible as well. Wasted opportunity.
