5.0 out of 5 stars Get it!, 20 Jan 2004
If you like Pink Floyd in the Meddle era anything by this band is for you. This is powerful psychedlic music with great tunes and Gilmour-esque guitar work. Some tracks are instumental and often seem drenched in acid induced delerium. The guitar solo at the end of Dark Matter is my all time favourite, the 1st time I heard it I had a massive pleasure rush and was crying by the end. It's like clawing up to the heavens and touching God (seriously, I mean it). The new 2nd CD has some quality out takes that tops off what for years has been a top ten album for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Signify - A very significant purchase, 7 Feb 2005

This album (extended version) works on many levels. If you are a child of the late fifties/sixties and lament the lack of output from your past hero's like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes etc, listening to it will plunge you right back to those glory days of Progressive Rock. You will also find it is individual, fresh, and not just a copy of the old masters' styles. I cannot find one weak track on this album and I don't think you will. Certainly, those with similar taste to me agree it is worth pursuing more of Porcupine Tree's material.
Does this sound like damned with faint praise - don't believe it,
I found this album as immediate, and enthralling as my first taste of Pink Floyd's DSOtM, it's that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars a gem, 4 Feb 2004
This is my personal favourite of PT. It's consistent in style and mood, it's carefully crafted and it's beautiful. Wilson once again shows his ear for arrangements, making his melodies sound in the best possible way - and I must say, these are some really nice melodies.

The mood is dark but not overly depressive. Haven't noticed any changes in sound compared to the original release (I only listen to music on my PC, so no wonder) but the bonus disc is a good treat for the die-hard fans. Looks a bit different from the cassette version of "Insignificance", too.

There are time when you just have to give something top marks. This is one of those times. Be warned though, it's trippy and not in a happy way!
