5.0 out of 5 stars Hark! I hear the 80's calling me!!, 4 Jun 2004
Robotix the Movie is based on the toy range (a very sophisticated bulid your own electronic kit).

In this movie the Good Protectons and Evil Terracors have been forced to transfer their personalities into the Robotix to "survive a Cosmic Storm". Each side is made stronger by In-organic Interface with Humans.

This film has a detailed and enguaging plot for a kids movie and is very exciting.

Made by the creartors of the classic 1980s Transformers Cartoon, I always wondered if this was the pilot for an unmade TV series.

What more can I say but BUY, BUY, BUY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good and imaginative movie to compliment the Building Sets., 23 Oct 2008
By FAMOUS NAME (UNITED KINGDOM) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)

This isn't a bad children's movie based on the Building Sets 'Robotix' that were produced by MB back in the eighties (long after I had grown up) and then by 'Learning Curve'. At least most of the character 'Robotix' featured in this movie can probably be built using the Sets (or something resembling them) The main Robotix 'head' and the capsules (which are pretty cool) are featured particularly well in this. It's also good that one can see the places to attach all the bits to on the Robotix characters in the film, and so this would please many who purchased the Sets and wanted a bash at copying them.

I was unaware of any movie connected to these Building Sets when I purchased them, as although I had long since ceased being a child during the 80s, I purchased the Sets because I had been quite ill and was told to do absolutely anything that was 'creative' and that would 'stimulate' the mind, and so I bought all the Sets that were available at that time which were Sets; 1000, 2000, 3000 & 40000. These are great amusement and very interesting - even for adults (a sort of plastic motorised Meccano but more imaginative) and so being oblivious to this movie in connection to them, when I saw it selling so cheaply, I thought I'd buy a copy and see what it was like. It was good, and I would probably enjoy a second viewing, but more than that, I suspect this would have successfully marketed the 'Sets' to the public - indeed, the Building Sets are still being produced almost thirty years later - must say something! Also, the Robotix characters in the movie do inspire building as a challenge, and gives a little imagination and creativity to the Sets too.

Whilst not having the 'charm' of the a similar genre of the 60s or 70s, this movie passes in my opinion, as it was still made at a time that hadn't quite started to produce the trash that's put out today.
