Product Description

CD Description

In the late '80s, with bands like Guns N' Roses finding stardom with stripped-down, loud rock & roll, AC/DC couldn't have picked a better time to release BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO. The album found an extremely receptive U.S. audience, and was theband's first record to reach the top 10 since FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK WE SALUTE YOU. And while it wasn't as consistent as some of the band's classic releases, BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO was easily one of the best hard rock/heavy metal releases of that time.
"That's the Way I Wanna Rock N Roll" was an instant AC/DC classic, and the raging "Heatseeker" became an eventual concert staple. Other tracks like "Go Zone", "Kissin' Dynamite", and "Some Sin for Nuthin'" were standouts as well. BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO proved to be drummer Simon Wright's final album with the band (he would leave after the ensuing tour to join Dio). BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO set the stage perfectlyfor AC/DC's next album, the blockbuster THE RAZOR'S EDGE.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love everything AC/DC has done..., 11 Dec 2001
This review is from: Blow Up Your Video (Audio CD)
I have given this CD five even though it is not even in my top ten AC/DC albums - but because AC/DC are AC/DC their eleventh best album is still a lot better than everyone else'e albums! This album starts off with the rock n roll "Heatseeker" and flows into the 1960's feel of "Thats the Way I Wanna..." These are the most well-known songs off the album and the only two that got played live on subsequent treks after the completion of the "Blow Up You Video" World Tour. But the rest of the album really rocks. Harry Vanda and George Young are at the helm for production and introduce a nice laid-back feel to the album. My own personal fave is "Nick of Time", but also check out "Kissin Dynamite", "This Means War" (as fast as "Riff Raff"), or "Twos Up". Write this CD off at your peril and refuse to listen to the music press who rubbish AC/DC's output in the mid to late 1980s - they are quite simply wrong. These boys never put a foot wrong...

4.0 out of 5 stars At Last, Some Colour, 26 Sep 2003
By M. G. Chisholm "chiefengineer3" (UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I recently bought this remastered CD, partially as I only had the original on vinyl and partially to see if the Sony re-release has added anything.
Well, I'm glad to report that the re-packaged CD is indeed better. Obviously the songs are the same, but the sound has been cleaned up and adds some "bite" and crispness that was missing when the album was first released. Because of this, the overall sound has a slightly heavier feel to it and that, to my ears is an improvement. The packaging is new and there are added snippets and photos - nicer than the cheap feel one gets when a re-release usually occurs. There's also an exclusive web link when played in the computer. Nice to know that Sony have decided not to protect it from you rascals out there who are fond of MP3s....
Now a lot of people didn't rate this record, but I think that it's actually a pretty good effort all round. Okay, there are no huge outstanding tracks, but Sink the Pink and Shake Your Foundations really should be included sometimes when playing live. I also like the slightly lighter hearted side to this album in comparisson to Flick of the Switch, the previous record.
All in all, an underated CD, which should be better recieved than it has been.
