Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

EA's PGA Tour series has been going for the best part of a decade now, most recently with the endorsement of the world renowned Tiger Woods. The 2004 version includes seven new courses, five new professional golfers (including Justin Rose, John Daly and Australian Adam Scott) and a new season mode that challenges you to obtain sponsorships from real golf-equipment manufacturers throughout your career and drive to surpass Tiger Woods himself as number one on the overall money list.

One of the most interesting new features is the Create-A-Golfer option, which lets you design a golfer that looks just like you or, if you so desire, a grotesquely deformed mockery of your least favourite celebrity--the choice is yours. If you do well in the main game you can even win new clothes and accessories for your virtual golfer to wear while competing in a variety of new modes, including World Tour, Long Drive Shootout, Best Ball, Alternate Shot, Stableford Scoring and Battle Golf. Whichever aspect of the game you're most interested in, this is the most realistic golf game ever made--until next year anyway. --David Jenkins

Official PlayStation 2 Magazine

"The best golf game on PS2, but the lack of online play is reprehensible. 8/10."

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods 2004 Review, 23 Feb 2004
This game is by far the best golf game I have played to date. Where the graphics in 2003 were great, they have found a way to top that and make it even better. The courses look brilliant, magnificently detailed down to the smallest divet.

Game play is great also, with the "world tour" option being my personal favourite. During this mode you play against pro's, each getting harder and harder the more you progress. The Pro Shop is another new feature that is simply amazing. You are able to customeize your golfer completly, adjusting their hair style, their face, the way they swings their club, their reaction's ... the list goes on and on. There is hundreds of pairs of clothes to fit him/her with also, as well as different clubs, shafts and balls. The futher through the game you get the better the sponsorship offers you gain, this adds further incentive to keep playing.

Length wise I found this to last me for a segnificant amount of time, more than a month playing very often each day. So for hard-core gamers this will appeal also, difficulty is moderate, it takes a while to get used to but when you do it is well worth it. Controls are simple with many added features since the last game including a new chip shot.

Overall I found this game to be of the highest quality, EA have found a way to top the previous game tremendously, I wonder though is will they be able to do it again when next year comes round? Only time will tell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect but an absolute cracker all the same, 7 Nov 2003

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Slight tweaks to the 2003 engine have resulted in a more enjoyable romp ensuring that this remains the most playable golf series available.
The best feature, for me, is the Game Face option where you can create a golfer in your own likeness, then use your hard-earned winnings to beef up your stats, buy new clothes and get some decent equipment. It really adds something to be able to see yourself actually taking on one of the game's big boys.
The courses are brilliant and the whole game is intuitive, easy to get to grips with quickly and suitably addictive.
Some would say it's too easy to become good at the game, but, just like the real thing, it can be hugely frustrating when you're sure you've hit the perfect shot but it comes up short in a bunker.
Also, you can play the perfect round against the computer and still end up being heavily beaten. In one Skins encounter I was 10 under par for a round yet won only two Skins against the 17 of Jon 'Wild Thing' Daly, who hit every fairway and had less than 20 putts in his round.
So realistic it isn't, but for pure enjoyment, no other golf game comes close. And who really cares about no online play option? Just get your friends around instead and you're sure of a great night in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, 18 Aug 2003
By A Customer
Well, what can I say, apart from the fact that it's a shame we have to wait another 2 months for this title to be released! This game looks like it has THE LOT - 19 courses including five new PGA courses and two new fantasy courses, Detailed Career mode - where you can play the brand new 52-week PGA Tour and obtain sponsorships along the way, World Tour mode replaces Tiger Challenge for a more varied experience, Extra gameplay modes include Long Drive Shootout, Best Ball, alternate shot, Stableford scoring, and Battle Golf (you can choose any 1 club to remove from your oponents bag to make things more challenging for them......note, they can do the same to you as well), Detailed Create-a-Golfer mode, Pro Shop gives you the opportunity to buy sponsored apparel, equipment, and even special animation sequences, More players - 15 PGA pros and 12 original players such as "The Don", Real-time PGA Tour events according to consoles internal clocks, EA Sports Bio - memory card tracking system rates you based on all of your EA Sports title performances and Online play (PlayStation 2 only).

The create-a-golfer feature is definately the thing EA have pushed and perfected in this title. EA gives players total control over a huge number of body morphing variables, including everything from skin tone to jaw size. If you don't want to spend 20 minutes creating yourself, just use the randomiser and eventually you'll find something you like.

Gamers will also have access to a huge Pro Shop. In the Pro Shop you'll be able to purchase sponsored apparel. There are over 115 shirts, tons of shoes, glasses, and even headbands. EA says there are thousands of items for gamers to buy with the money they've earned playing the single and multiplayer modes. As far as what exact brands we can expect, a company representative commented, "We have all the major brand players you'd expect to see in a golf game."

So, if you haven't already made up your mind about whether you should pre-order this title or not, allow me to do so for you.....PRE-ORDER THIS GAME NOW!!
