5.0 out of 5 stars An inspired and mature debut!, 11 Feb 2004
By Tony Chaucer (La Paz, Bolivia) - See all my reviews
Have been into James for quite a while, but must say even I was suprised by the sheer breadth of material gracing this album! James is on top form throughout, but in particular on tracks such as 'Sitting Pretty' (trk3) and 'Won't Be a Fool' (trk 5); both masterpieces of the smooth genre. The production is smooth and crisp, technically challenging, but light and airy which enables the sax to have it's own space. The cameo's are also excellent, vox on track 2 are flawless, and the keyboard solo's on both track 8 and track 11 quite superb, George Duke would be proud! Great album! ps I'm sure I heard someone shout 'You've dropped me brown ale!'in the background at the end of the last track. Strange!
