5.0 out of 5 stars preobably tis best album in recent years, 19 Sep 2003
When I first heard this album I could tell that it was well crafted. As I listen to it more I find myself being whisked away to new emotions and states of happiness. A truley remakable debt album that I would recomend to anyone who is interested in actual music played by actual musicians.

" On the run " is proof alone that this album will stand the test of time ( unlike ninety per cent of todays artists ). The highlights are without question " one last look " and "blind folds removed " and all the other songs nip at the heels of these timeless classics.

Anyone who admires music with their own opinion should buy this album.

I hope you have the same enthusiasm as I have and will share the songs with lots of people.

Amy Walsh

4.0 out of 5 stars Kickin it up a notch!, 5 Sep 2003
By José 'Jay' Jacob (Chorley, Lancashire) - See all my reviews
From the first track to the last it is obvious that mazeppa have poured more than just time and money into this album. Every track is a brilliantly constructed piece of music each with its own style.
The range of songs on the album is vast. Track 1 introit; is a slow melodic song like a coldplay track where as Track 6 is not too far away from what the Chilli Peppers might come up with, however mazeppa have one up on the chillis with a genius pianist in the shape of Paul Swannell. Drummer Phil Holmes gets plenty of oppurtunity throught out to show what he's made of. Otto has an ace voice he can go really high (and I mean really)and Brad Wood's talent as bassist also cannot go unnoticed.

From mellow slow tunes to swingy beats and a bit of rock for good measure this allbum has it all. If i had to pick a favourite it has to be killing time with it's distorted sounds. All the tracks keep my interested throughout, I find myself bobbing/swaying along to the song (even now as I write this.) Next gig i'm off to is gonna be a a mazeppa gig.

Hope this review has been useful, if you like piano based music you won't be disapointed
