Forming another female-fronted Detroit guitar band was bound to trigger comparisons with guitarist Steve Shaw's previous outfit, The Detroit Cobras, but I'm glad to say the motor town is big enough for both of 'em. The formula is pretty much the same - high-energy 60s soul and R&B covers with a few originals - but there's more light and shade than The Cobras, and singer Julie Benjamin has a lighter, Debbie Harry-type pop voice than Rachel Nagy's classic blue-eyed soul sound. And there's a clue in that: 'Coming Now' is a great debut but The Fondas have gone on to even greater things with 2006's 'Runaway Bombshell'.

NB the tracklist on both the CD and the MP3 list is wrong: track 2 'What To Do' is missing.
