This game is superb.Although you do not play inside the cockpit, you retain the arcade type feel that will keep you going back for more. If,like me, you are a fan of anything to do with WW2 and you want something entirely different to the 1st person shooters then this is definately the game for you. The controls are very easy to grasp and challenges in between missions will get you prepared for the following missions that lie ahead ( ALL 30 OF THEM!!!!).There is a real sense of belonging to the squadron which is increased by the ability to issue wing commands via your controler. The missions themselves vary from dogfights to ground & sea targets, you even get to use an AA gun from the ground to shoot down stuka's and the likes, the unlocking of a vast amount of authentic Aircraft, historical films and weaponry upgrades give a satisfactory award for a job well done. The Graphics are also excellent, ground targets are very clear and the planes look superb, manual landing adds to the realism and you can hear German and Japenese pilots through your radio system. Surround sound is great, with brilliant background music to give you that film feel, gun sounds, explosions and pilot chatter are all very clear with the added(rather sickly) delight of hearing an enemy pilot scream in anguish as he sinks to the ground(although alot manage to parachute out). You can view your aircraft from the side, rear and top down, all have their uses in different missions. If you are being attacked from behind then a quick press on the controller allows you to see whats going on and therefore take evasive action. All in all this is a magnificent attempt at recreating WW2 in the air,the difficulties vary and it will take you a long time to complete(I am on mission 7 after around 12 hours of gameplay) unlike MOH Rising Sun which is completley rubbish in comparison to this. BUY IT AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!
