This is a wonderful recording of Glazunov's 8th Symphony. The symphony is in the style of late romantic. It is an ambitious symphony, particularly in the slow movement, and is perhaps the most impressive symphony that Glazunov composed. It is complemented by Glazunov's tribute to Pushkin and a Lyrical Poem (one of his earlier compositions). In particular the Commemorative Canatata is beautiful and full of invention. The performance of the works on this CD are emotionally committed and compelling and the recording can be highly recommended too.
