5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent buy!, 20 May 2004

I have recently bought the four "Yoga Zone" tapes and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others wishing to practise yoga at home. Alan Finger works descriptively through the postures in a slow, calm way, allowing time for benefit to be gained from each of them. Two teachers demonstrate the postures; one showing the full extent of the stretches and the other a modified version, so nobody need feel that if they do not achieve the full posture they are not deriving benefit from it. There is proper stress laid on complete breathing throughout. This really feels like being in a yoga class with individual tuition. I hope that more tapes by Alan Finger will be made available.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best yoga videos, 21 Jan 2004
By A Customer
This series is amazingly good value, and good value is so hard to come by these days. Four videos for under twenty pounds. But the best thing about these tapes is that they work. Each asana is explained properly as you do it, the instruction is so good you can occassionally close your eyes and just follow Alan Finger's voice. He tells you precisely what to do, in what direction you should be feeling the tension, what to do if you are not flexible enough to attain the full position eg, in downward dog etc. And the emphasis on correct breathing is throughout the workouts. And although it is a slow, measured yoga routine, it is a workout, the conditioning and toning tapes are exactly that. I have tried all the yoga videos I could get my hands on, and felt that asanas were rushed and just as you began to feel the release of a posture, you had to move on! This is the first yoga video I've followed which allows you to benefit from each asana. I suffer from M.E. and the amazing relief that my sore, tired muscles experience after one of theses sessions (especially the conditioning video), the surge of energy, and the incredible feeling of being centred, happy, and relaxed is truly amazing. After close to four and half years of being ill, this is making a profound difference to my health. I just have to keep doing it regularly! (and having better posture and toned, firm muscles is just an added bonus!)

I hope amazon UK decides to sell the intermediate videos and other yoga zone/alan finger videos!

Oh and just a note for other people with M.E./ CFIDS and fibromyalgia, yoga is the only thing (and I've tried everything except Ampligen)that I can conclusively say has helped my condition. A great book that introduced me to the benefits of yoga for fatigue is 'Beat Fatigue with Yoga' by Fiona Agombar.

5.0 out of 5 stars yoga zone, 1 May 2004
By A Customer
Good price and extremely well instructed videos, just like being in a proper yoga class.
When you look through the videos they don't look that hard but when actually doing them they work the body really well as you have to contract your muscles. the poses are held for a good period of time to get the full benefit which most other videos don't.
