excellent split EP between two acts producing some of the best indie/psych/post rock whatever music at the moment. if you're even mildly interested in just one of the two bands, this is an excellent and costs-effective way to have an introduction to both.

Toshack Highway is Swervedriver's Adam Franklin's solo project - here he produces 5 songs of the type of quality in writing, playing and production that many bands never manage more than once per full-length album, if that.

includes an acoustic version of the SWD song 'The Sounds and the Times' but probably the best track is the incredibly atmospheric 'Cannery Row', possibly inspred by the Steinbeck book, though not konwing Adam i couldn't say for sure...

Sianspheric are so unsung it's unbelievable - combining the best elements of early Verve (before they had to adopt the 'The'), My Bloody Valentine, the more spacey Pink Floyd, Loop and Sonic Youth, this Canadian band have released several albums all worth getting - this effort is a bit more acoustic generally than their other stuff, but it's proof they don;t need the amps-up-to-11 kitchen-sink-effects to produce a genuine ambience. The opener, 'Song For' is truly majestic, as are all of the tracks - the only esception is the more up-tempo 'this all happened', a good song in its own right but out of kilter with the rest of the material.
