Product Description

Product Description

Dead to Rights takes place in Grant City, USA, a once bustling gold-mining town turned corrupt--becoming "the hardest place on Earth". Jack Slate, a Grant City cop, arrives at a murder scene to discover that his father, private investigator and former cop Frank Slate, is the victim. As Jack begins the dangerous and labyrinthine task of finding his father's killer, he is framed for another murder. The twisting plot, seedy citizens of Grant City and high-adrenaline action leave players wanting more.

Dead to Rights features more than a dozen game mechanics including diving, rolling, punching, kicking and lethally disarming enemies in a variety of over-the-top ways. Jack's canine partner (a husky named Shadow) lives up to the name "man's best friend", helping Jack investigate crime scenes, sniff out bombs, retrieve weapons and attack enemies. Unique gameplay scenarios, mini-games and stop-motion special effects add to the action.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent action title with some flaws., 23 Aug 2003
Dead to Rights is a fairly nifty action game that while not exactly groundbreaking will entertain for a while.

The control system is pretty intuitive, and the action is fast paced without getting too frantic to know what's going on. There are some nice touches like a decent combat system, the occasional sub-game to break up the action, some very cool weapon-disarms which you can view in slow motion from multiple angles, and lots of slow-mo diving and shooting - John Woo-style. The plot is also quite good and the voice acting is of a high standard, but the story telling doesn't get in the way of the action too much.

On the down side the graphics aren't anything to write home about, some sections (especially when you have to control his dog) are a bit irritating, and some levels start to drag, especially the ones where you're limited to hand-to-hand fighting.

A decent action game in all, which should keep you busy until True Crime comes out anyway.

This is a very good game indeed! I wasn't sure if it would be that good but until you play it then you just want more! Gameplay is really good, ok, the graphics may be jerky, but thats only in certain places though! Its quite addictive too this game and with the sequel coming out for PS2 and Xbox, lets hope it does make it onto cube!! This is deff a must buy!
