1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 10 Mar 2005

(REAL NAME)
Waiting two years for an album was unheard of in the early 80's. Nether the less this happened with Visage's third album Beat Boy. The reasons were there were management problems with the band, a legal dispute about who owned the 'Visage' name by former band members of Ultravox and Steve Strange's commitments to other projects, namely his clubs like The Camden Palace. When Visage did get back together to record, Midge Ure and co had left due to a fall out with Steve Strange over musical and style directions. Now the writing and recording was left to Steve Strange and Rustly Egan who recruited Gary and Steve Barnacle on guitar to produce a harder sound. Visage gave up their Euro Synth style in favour for sax, guitar and drums. The result was not what the public wanted. The only outstanding track on the album was 'Love Glove' which debuted as the first single before the album's long awaited release. It only got to number 60 in the charts and was an indication of how bad the album Beat Boy was to be recieved. The album was released in the autumn of 1984 and quickly entered and fell out of the charts. The single 'Beat Boy' just about made the top 100. This album proved how much of the song writing of the first two albums 'Visage' & 'The Anvil' were down to Midge Ure and Ultravox. Although Steve Strange was responsible for some lyrical content on the first two albums he was not the song writer.
Steve Strange was a great fashion icon/leader of his time.
His biggest mistake as far as Visage was concerned was Midge Ure and Ultravox leaving the band.

Beat Boy proves it.

They should of released The Pleasure Boys as an album with the following track listing:

The Pleasure Boys
Motiviation
Can you hear me
Love Glove
She's a machine
I'm still searching
Only the good die young
