Synopsis

This disc features all 13 episodes of the second series of THE WATER MARGIN, the Japanese series that became a cult after being shown on BBC during the mid-1970s. Based on ancient folktales and bearing a passing resemblance to the Robin Hood legend, the show features swashbuckling swords, martial arts and special effects.

This is where the stories REALLY pickup. If you enjoyed the first DVD box set, then here is more of the same. It DOES have an end, and does not just stop. Ling Chun and is band of helpers continue to be beset by Kow-chu and other problems. The picture and sound are both VERY good for a programme of its age, especially since the original broadcast reels went AWOL some time ago. I used to watch this on Friday evenings in the 70s after my homework, and it was ALL the rage at school on Monday. A real precursor to the big kung-fu films of the era, and PRE-DATEs the inferior series Kung-fu. ENJOY

I LOVED every minute of both seasons of this series - the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon of its day. Fine looking lead characters, heroically fighting for what they believe in with bravado and daring do - wonderful stuff. The story is great, the fight scenes are great,the baddies are suitably evil, even the dubbing is a hoot!! I watched it whenever it was repeated on tv and will keep watching now it is finally on DVD.Best of all,I won't have to wait a week for the next episode!!!!!! Watch it, you'll get hooked.

The memories came flooding back seeing this cult 1970's TV prog. which we all "had to watch" and always the topic of conversation at break. Excellent entertainment. Good quality sound and pictures. Some of the voice dubbing and camera work makes you smile but is was 30 plus years ago. This is classic Chinese ancient drama at it's best. I preferred it to Monkey. Pure indulgence on my part buying this but not regreted. If you want Japanese another old favourite Shogun is available (reg 1) in the USA
