4.0 out of 5 stars 21st Century Rock with Roots, 10 May 2003
From the opening "1-2-3-Yeeoow!" from lead vocalist Rory Lewarne, Pink Grease take you on a roller coaster ride on this, their debut mini album. The tight, driving beat of "The Nasty Show" and "More Than Woman" are crammed with so much energy it's almost a relief when the tempo drops slightly on the grindingly suggestive "The Beast". And just when you think you've got them sussed off we veer again into "Suzie" which time warps us back to 50s High School Americana. "Shake" will make you do just that, and if there's anything which has ever been recorded which is sleezier than "Lou Reed", then frankly it shouldn't have been released.
The changes in pace and style don't take anything away from what Pink Grease are all about. What we have here is a group with a fine and varied mix of skills (we even get 3 part harmonies!)which come together in the caulrdon of their own creativity. Pink Grease are not afraid to take chances or to pitchfork their own unique blend into - well, into where-ever and when-ever they feel like really.

5.0 out of 5 stars tsch!! ANOTHER genre reviving band eh??!!?, 28 May 2003
Well they are yes, but unlike The Datsuns, The Strokes, The Hives etc (coughcrapcough), Pink Grease have decide to go even further back.... to the 50's

From the first incredibly sexy track 'The Nasty Show' which will win awards for best use of saxophone so far this millennium, to the band introductory 'Lou Reed' (sample lyrics: John Lynch on saxophone....*saxophone solo*) Pink Grease will take you back to the days when you used to watch Happy Days in your living room, dreaming that you were the Fonz (you all did)

Oh, and your parents will love it too

4.0 out of 5 stars shake appeal, 19 Nov 2003

this band isn't for you if you remember iggy pop, this band isn't for you if you own raw power - if you did you'd probably realize that "shake" is "shake appeal" and "Lou Reed" a bad Iggy b-side perhaps. It is said too much perhaps but this band isn't original. Don't let that stop you having fun with it.
