Baayo contains wonderful, haunting, evocative music from deep within Baaba Maal's soul. The initial simplicity of the music belies the complex, underlying rhythyms. Beautiful singing and responses with mainly just a guitar make an unforgettable album.

This seriously good but accessible album features Maal's exquistite voice intermingling with a kora ensemble to produce a rich sound full of delicate harmonies. These are clearly spiritual songs, you can tell that even if you don't speak this Senegalese language.
