5.0 out of 5 stars Which? Magazine Best Buy May 2004, 14 Jul 2004
I live in a village and we are always running out of bread. I also don't like the usual pap you get from the big bakery companies, so I've fancied a breadmaker for a while. Like the previous reviewer, the price has always put me off.

This product won the Which Magazine best buy rating in May 04, so I was DELIGHTED to see I could get it here for just £35. So far, it's been on nearly every day, and I've been experimenting, with varied results. I've used some bread mixes (about 50p each) and have found they work best if you use slightly less water with them. I've tried the fastbake (one hour) option and its fine. I generally use it though for more 'speciality'-type loaves. You get quite a few recipes with it (including one for chocolate bread which is slightly odd but quite yummy.

What I like : 1. The price. 2. Its quite compact, so it doesn't take up much room on the worktop. 3. Its brilliantly easy to understand (no tricky programming menu's to get to grips with. 4. The smell in the house is heavenly, especially when using the one hour 'keep warm' feature, Mmmmm!

What I don't like : 1. The paddle getting stuck (but it's only inconvenient) 2. It would have been useful to have more than one set of measuring cups/spoons because you have to wash them between ingredients. Once the cup gets covered in flour it's difficult to read the measurement gauge

Look at the price. Get one. You aren't risking much, and you'll probably love it (I've since ordered one for my sister and my friend and they love it too!)I don't know whether they are about to replace this model (hence the cheap price) so get one whilst you can.

4.0 out of 5 stars MORPHY rICHARDS BREADMAKER, 12 Mar 2006
    By A Customer
I purchased this breadmaker to replace an older well used version made by Morphy Richards.
The basic bread setting cannot be surpassed but the quick and fastbake facilities are a little disappointing. To be fair the manufacturer does warn users that the bread from these settings will be smaller and more moist. After tasting bread made on the basic setting I think one would have to be pretty desperate to resort to 'quick' or 'fastbake' settings.
The delay facility I found disappointing by comparison with the older model. The loaves came out sunken; though edible they were a litte too moist for our taste.
The other settings and recipes produce very good quality bread. The machine does the job required of it very well. Its design features are a tremendous improvement on my last model. The controls are clear, well defined and you can easily see what is happening to your bread through the window. The bleeper is intrusive and will penetrate most family turbulence. A bonus in a busy family environment like ours. I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing this machine. The improvements made far outweigh any problems I have encountered.
We have only had our breadmaker for a couple of weeks but it seems to be a robust 'workhorse' designed to withstand the rigours of a busy family kichen. It is certainly good value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars No more shop bought bread for me!, 30 Jun 2004
    By A Customer
The price of breadmakers always put me off in the past as didn't want to fork out £50+ on yet another kitchen gadget that would be used a few times and then left in the back of the cupboard collecting dust.
So when I saw this breadmaker priced at under £40 I thought I'd take a chance. And am I glad I did! I can't see why anyone has to spend more money on a breadmachine as this one does it all.
The only complaint I have is that it takes me ages to get my bread out as the loaf always gets stuck to the kneading paddle which stays stuck to the pan...but maybe that's just me.
I must admit following other people's comments I have not bothered with the quick bread settings.
But whether I use a commerical bread mix or one of the many recipes included in the instruction booklet I have always ended up with a tasty loaf.
Best kitchen gadget buy since my grilling machine
