Bought this as a substitute to the stove top italian coffee maker, and as it was cheaper than the proper italian maker's electrc version. At first was very happy with it.It's top screws on to the base very easily, which I thought was a bonus, but this is actually it's downfall. The proper stove top ones need about 5 revolutions to seal the top to the bottom, and this helps keep the tight seal that creates the pressure, needed for good coffee. On this machine however, the thread is only one revolution, and although much quicker, the slightly maleable metal starts to distort the seal after a couple of weeks use, and you struggle to screw it on straight. Also, once this coffee is made, traditionallly it needs to be stirred, as the thicker stuff sinks to the bottow - but the design of the top of this is such that you cant stir all of it, as a lot of the coffee sinks goes into a "moat" inside the top jug. It's a shame because it's a nice looking machine, but it goes to show that there's a reason the italian's have been making them like that for so long.
