5.0 out of 5 stars Yu Gi Go !, 7 Jun 2003
yeah i know its yugioh but hey,

A while ago i kinda lost interest in the whole duel monsters game, like many other's that is. Well the series was repeative and annoying to a point i managed to record them all.

My interest was re kindled however when i was informed of the new series i thought, hey lets give it another go and now i dont miss an single episode..even if it means running home from work.

Ok the game, i was browsing the shop for a cd, tired of listening to all my others , when at the counter i saw a huge yu gi oh poster, and thought hey the new games out so i looked for it and behind various other gba games was yugioh world wide eidtion. The moment i put the cartridge into my gba was the moment countless hours of my life were wasted, and it was worth it,i wanted to learn more about the game and stratergies so i became hooked and walked into a lot of people.

There are so many cards, and even a password so you can obtain certain cards that you would like but dont appear in packs, the duels are fairly simple, thats if your a quick learner, if you not a plug and play the manual is some good reading and handy to keep around when tough duels appear. To play it safe its best to stick to the easier duelists and get decent cards first so you can customize and build your very own deck.

The game is based on the TV series as far as i know, and some familier duelists appear so you can test your skills and kick there butt x.x just like yugi did, whats more you even get to duel yugi himself and his yami ^.- so do you think you got what it takes to defeat the king of games and have the title for yourself, only you can decide. Good luck and have fun, i sure did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yu-gi-oh fans rejoice, 19 April 2003
Trading Card Games are often considered a whole waste of money as people spend hundreds of pounds on special edition, one of a kind cards... here nearly every card released can be found on the game and it even has a nifty function that allows you to transfer your existing cards to the game, but more on that later.
To those who have either taken up the game or watched the highly popular anime series, you will know more or less how the game works.. for those who dont know, here's a quick rundown.
You play with a deck of cards containing monster cards and magic cards. these are used in various ways depending on the card. you summon a monster to attack your opponent's life points of which each person has 8000 (different to the anime cartoon's 2000).Magic cards are used in various different ways depending on what is the nature of the card, from protecting your monsters from incoming attacks to increasing your creatures power and defenses. The game itself is well designed with plenty of things to do, many characters to challenge and hundreds of cards to collect. Naturally with hundreds of cards comes lots of different ways of playing. It comes with multiplayer trading and battling with two game cartridges, consoles and link cable, and as mentioned above, the ability of sending your own collected cards into the game via a little code found on the card itself.
There are the good things, but as with all games there are problems. The main problem here is no training section meaning new comers will have to read through the game manual to understand how to play the game. This game may take a while before you will understand how to play properly but to those already occustomed to the card game itself,it will probably be second nature.
The lack of traing knocks down the game score but otherwise a great game.Excellent digital version of the game(and a lot more money saving than the actual card game)although admittedly, as with all card games, nothing beats the feeling of picking the cards up yourself and having them in your hand.
4/5

3.0 out of 5 stars Turn based luck/strategy card game, 19 Sep 2003
By Luke Wheeler - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
No storyline, no platform jumping, no shooting, no puzzles, but if it's red hot Yu-Gi-Oh card battling action you're looking for, there Stairway To The Destined Duel, is just about the most definate game you could wish for.
You're job is to create a deck full of vicious monsters, cool magic attacks and sneaky traps and then try to outwit your opponent on the field of battle. There are around 1000 cards in the game and you must work you're way across the country, taking on all corners until you emerge victorius. It's perfect for Yu-Gi-Oh fans, but if youre new to the game, this may be a bit daunting.
