I bought the Kameleon 6 remote control for use with my Hi-fi, Home Cinema, TV and Video. This device can accomodate up to 6 devices and is truly universal. My Bose Home Entertainment system being relatively new, was not pre-programmed into the remote control but a quick call to "One for All" resolved that. They were able to immediately update the remote over the telephone and I merely was required to place the face of the remote control against the telephone earpiece and the update took less than 5 seconds. I was truly impressed. Also, you can update the remote control via the internet. The Kameleon can also "learn" functions from your existing remote controls and their features can be copied across if required. To prolong battery life, the illuminescent facia of the remote automatically fades out after 10 seconds. However, the moment you touch it or pick it up, the screen re-lights. One slight downside is that the casing of the remote control is quite "slippery" due to the smooth metallic casing so be careful! Nonetheless, I recommend the purchase of this device as essentially it does represent value for money and is future proof for emergent technologies.

This is nice looking bit of kit. Solid build quality and lights up when moved. Has a funny buzzing sound when lit but you get used to it. Of all the pre-programmed remotes available under £100, this is probably the best. It has a huge number of pre-programmed devices in its memory, setting this up is a bit of "fun" but was quick. It's intuative, has macro functions and can learn from exsiting remotes. The keys are customisable and you can download funtions from the net.

However, this little wonder has its limts; it has difficulty with home cinema systems (ie DVD, HC amp in-one boxes)and the layout of the keys can't be modified. You still have to get used to using it, so technophobes may still have trouble... you have to be on the correct function screen to get your remote to work.

I got around the home cinema problem by splitting the functions between the DVD and AMP functions... it works fine.

I've managed to get around all the gripes with a little reading through the manual and some techie skill... but not too much

In summary, the all-in-one remote is a very good replacement for your exiting stack of remotes, but don't expect anything too fancy... for that you will have to pay much more. A useful and visually impressive buy.

This universal remote actually works. Its functions are readily mastered and it is effective with all our equipment, including SKY+. Unfortunately, it is an unattractive piece of equipment. Its silvered plastic casing looks and feels cheap and the key pad provides vague feedback - no re-assuring clicks. However, if you want to get rid of your clutter and be confident that you will be able to change TV channels and record on Sky+, it is worth living with.
