Mavis Beacon provides lessons for both accuracy and speed, and even includes a separate group of lessons to teach the number pad. Lessons run to dictation and copy typing, and there are some quite diverting games for those odd moments when the drill of lessons is rather too formal but you want to get a bit of typing practice in.
The software has built-in intelligence to gauge what letters you are best and worst at finding on the keyboard, and it adapts its lessons suit your needs. If you don't want to work with quite such an intelligent system, you can set up your own lesson plans, choosing texts on a range of subjects to copy type or even importing your own. The software comes with a booklet on working with VDUs, which is full of tips on health and safety matters--a very useful extra to what is an extremely powerful application.
