Product Description

The tenth film in the 'Friday the 13th' sci-fi horror series. The year is 2455. Earth is no longer inhabitable, so humans have colonised outer space. One colony receives two cryogenically frozen bodies, and when they defrost them, one of the bodies turns out to be Jason Vorhees. No longer in the forest of Camp Crystal Lake, Jason stalks the colonists in a whole new environment.

In the interim between Jason IV and the face-off between Jason and Freddy Krueger, it was decided to keep the franchise burning with this Sci-fi take on the Friday 13th series.

When the remorseless Jason Vorhees is captured by the authorities (not seen here) they attempt to execute him in various ways - without success. When the government decides to transfer him to a secret laboratory in order to discover the secret of his immortality he escapes, with laborious inevitability, and slaughters a squad of soldiers before one of the researchers traps him in a cryonic freezing chamber where he is frozen - but not before he manages to almost fatally stab her through the chamber door.
Jump forward to the year 2455 and a party of students on a field trip discovers the frozen pair and takes them back to their spacecraft - clearly they've never heard of the hockey-mask wearing psychopath, oops. Carnage ensues.

Although this movie was the lowest-grossing in the series, and has been routinely panned by fans and critics since its release in 2002, I actually liked it a lot more than some of its predecessors. Perhaps it's the fact that in 2455 it's clearly mandatory for attractive young women (and they all are) to wear skintight and revealing clothes, or the fact that the crew are so obnoxious that it's a pleasure to see them slaughtered. Whatever it is, the complete lack of plot, character development, coherence or wit should make this film suck, but it's actually pretty fun, with some nice SFX and a decent pace.

Hassle free transaction - arrived quickly as described no damage well packed.

I'll try to not put spoilers in.

I've only seen one 'Jason' film and thought it was unpleasant. So why did I buy this one? because one night I flicked on to one scene and thought 'whoa' what's this? I soon realised and still watched it to the end. Yes one scene was SOOOO good I had to get the movie.

The start was sort of silence of the lambs-like. but necessary to set the story in motion. Also excellently violent. but oddly not nasty.
the next scene begins the real story - some really nice touches here made easier by having it set when its set i.e tech has advanced.

the fact that the location is isolated is excellent and non of this 'oh no signal' guff - in fact the opposite. an audience gets to hear spree in crystal clear tones.

Some of the 'kills' are just genius some have whimsical moment its the whole spectrum - something for everyone. One sardonic comment was soooo blatantly obvious you just know it so why di they have to actually say it. Perhaps it could have been delivered better or just not said. It doesn't affect the movie over all so no harm done.

Doig - D'oh - how she gets second billing is beyond me. half the time she looks like she doesn't know what's going on and the other half she looks like she doesn't care. I'm not sure she actually has any talent. there must have been hundreds of equally or better looking actresses out there who would have done that part for a lot less (I'm guessing) AND would have put more life in to it.

Hodder is great as Jason - he does more acting with eyes than doig does with her whole body.

The rest of the cast live/die/scream/run etc very credibly -actually very well.

In the future, Earth is no longer inhabitable.

A field trip leads the class and a few marines to the remains of Camp Crystal Lake where they discover two frozen bodies, one of a young woman, and the other, a man in a hockey mask and carrying a machete in his right hand.

The group decides to bring the bodies back for testing and re-animation.

But what was the first mistake, bringing the two bodies back with them, or thawing them out so that Jason Voorhees can return again to wreak havoc and murder everyone in his sight? So whoever thought that this sequel needed to be made was wrong. So wrong on so many levels. I have a fondness for the Friday The 13th movies. They are dross, but they are fun to watch and pass the time.

But this was just one step too far. If they really wanted to make this, why set it in space, was there really any other way than this? The acting is awful, and when Jason gets his upgrade, its time for the off button. But I waited to see if anything would be redeemed, but hey, I wasted another few minutes of my life.

Cronenberg is in it for a few moments at the beginning, and this is why it's getting a two, he was really funny in this.

But otherwise, this was a dud. My only explanation for this is that they probably made this to see if Jason was still popular enough for the company to make 'Freddy Vs. Jason'.

Avoid.

When i first put this in my DVD player and the main menu popped up with its spine chilling music i thought: "Great, this is guna be good!"
That was the last good thought i had about this movie. I found it far too predictable and was able to foretell everything so i was not "thrilled" at all.
A thoroughly dissapointing movie which is highly over-rated.
PLEASE, If you have any respect for movies and yourself, DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM!!!!
