The greatest pop hits in the world... ever!, 16 May 2003
Roxette's "The Pop Hits" are non-stop catchy hearing, and eternal bubblegum party! The album includes 13 pop greatest hits, 2 new catchy tunes and a bonus EP with 4 pop hits.OPPORTUNITY NOX - Is the single released from this collection to promote it. I think it's great, but it won't enter the UK charts (if "A thing about you" couldn't make it, this won't do it). Anyways, it's typical Roxette's pop and it sounds very catchy. THE LOOK - Roxette's breakthrough single everywhere, it made very well on charts as it came at UK No7 and US No1. DRESSED FOR SUCCESS - This is the second single off-Look Sharp! album. When it was first released in 1989, it failed to chart the Top 40 (but made US No14). Its follow-ups "Listen To Your Heart" and "Dangerous" also didn't enter the chart in 1989 (despite being US No1 and US No2, respectively). But after the mega success of "It Must Have Been Love" in 1990, these singles had their opportunity, being re-issued. "Listen To Your Heart/Dangerous" was re-issued as follow-up to "It Must Have Been Love" and came at UK No6 and "Dressed For Success" made No18. DANGEROUS - This is really great, I love it! Well, I told the story above, the only thing I have to say is that came at US No2. JOYRIDE - Very catchy and pure bubblegum, this was Roxette's fourth US No1, and came at UK No4. THE BIG L. - I don't like it too much, but is one of Roxette's 18 UK Top 30 hits. It came at UK No21. CHURCH OF YOUR HEART - I love this! It's a very cute mid-tempo song, and it made UK No21 in early 1992. HOW DO YOU DO! - Roxette's return to the Top 15, this is one of my favourites and it came at UK No13. SLEEPING IN MY CAR - Roxette's rockest moment, came at UK No14 and is the first single from "Crash! Boom! Bang!". RUN TO YOU - This is my favourite song from Roxette. It came at UK No27, and is the follow-up to "Fireworks" which was a UK No30 hit but failed to be included on this collection. JUNE AFTERNOON - The pop hit from Roxette's greatest hits collection is very optimist and raises your esteem. It failed to chart the UK Top 40. STARS - A synth-based song, very popular in Europe. I used to love it but now I hate the children choir. It wasn't even released in the UK. THE CENTRE OF THE HEART - The first single from 2001's album "Room Service" released everywhere except US & UK (what were they thinking?). REAL SUGAR - It sounds like a midi, I don't like it so much. LITTLE MISS SORROW - Very cute! With Per on lead vocals again! The mini EP is packaged with the songs "Stupid", "Makin' Love To You", "Better Off On Her Own" and "Bla, Bla, Bla, Bla (You Broke My Heart)". You must buy it, it really worth the money and it's essential to your CD collection.
