Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

You've read the comic, you've seen the film--now be the mutant! X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge puts you in the adamantium-spiked shoes of the X-Men’s meanest hero.

While comics are having a bit of renaissance in films lately, with several decent versions of four-colour heroes making it to the big screen, the only half-decent superhero game is still Spider-Man. Wolverine's Revenge should change all that with what promises to be a genuinely worthwhile game in its own right. Tying in only loosely to the new X-men movie, this is basically a Wolverine simulator which traces his life from his first appearance as Weapon X in 1968 to a series of deadly battles in the modern day against the likes of Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth.

As you'd expect, the emphasis of the action in the game is on 3-D combat and this works extremely well, with various combos to unlock and the ability to fight multiple bad guys at once. More interesting though is the way you can use Wolvie's animal senses to follow scent particles in the air, hear distant sounds and track an enemy's heat signature. This aspect of the game works incredibly well and allows you to play the game as either an all-out actioner or a more tactical, stealth-based affair.

It's unusual to see a comic character portrayed so accurately in a game, with all their powers intact, but Wolverine's Revenge really pulls it off and combines it with some great gameplay and cool graphics. --David Jenkins

4.0 out of 5 stars !!!Wolverine Kicks ass!!!, 15 Jun 2003
Wolverine is Back and is Kicking ass in his own Multi Platform game.

In this adventure you will encounter countless enemies and familiar faces as you fight your way through the game in order to finally find out who has mutanted your body. you will encounter familiar enemies along the way, such as: Magneto, Juggernaut and sabertooth.

The gameplay is awesome and you will be able to continue playing for hours, there are many fighting combinations to do and many ways of defeating your enemy. There is a new strike attack that can be used to good affect on your enemies.

The game's graphics are very good. it's about time that Wolverine i.e the coolest character in the X-Men series had his own game.

This game does the X-men series and Wolverines name proud. it upholds the characters appearances that we are used to seeing both in the cartoon and in the films.

This is an awesome game, i recommend this game to anyone who likes the X-men series and likes kicking behind and having fun whilst doin it! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Wolverines Revenge, 8 May 2003
Graphical the game is not as crisp as it probably could be, but it does have some excellent effects. The use of wolverines senses create an excellent touch. The sound is average but with excellent voice overs, Wolverine himself is played by Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame. The use of the Cubes controller makes most aspects of the game easy to control. There is also a nice use of other Xmen characters and a lot of the areas you do battle in, are straight from the new film. Cut scenes are kept to a minimum length with most being under a minute. The game isnt as challenging as I would have hoped for and a good gamer will get through this in just over a week, it may have been nice to have a two player slash fight option, but sadly this is lacking. Overall the game lives up to the statements on the game case, but there is still room for slight improvements, maybe its just an Xmen fan being picky!! A must for any Xmen fan, and a good buy for those who just want a pick up and play slash fest in the evenings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seen Wolverine? Now be him!!, 27 May 2003
Wolverine's Revenge is an X men fans dream, you get the chance to be the most prolific of the X men, Wolverine. The game features an excellent combat system which is works extremely well whether you choose to use your keen wolverine senses and stealth strike everyone or rush in, gung-ho and beat the hell out of everyone. There are plenty of "strike" moves that finish your enemies or that strike at many enemies at once, providing satisfyingly graphic fight sequences.

The Game is set loosely around the start of the second movie with Wolverine trying to discover his past in the cavernous alkali lake military complex where he was manafactured as "Weapon X". Comic fans will love the game as classic characters such as "Sabretooth", "The Juggernaught" and "Magneto" rear their heads and present obstacles to wolverine finding the truth about his shrouded past.

The graphics and cutscenes are fantastic and the game comes with a bonus section where you can watch all of them, it also has items to collect in-game which open features to you, such as changing your costume to classic ones and finding data files on characters (which allows people who havnt read all the comics to understand the characters further).

The Heightened senses mode you can slip in and out of adds an excellent edge to the game, allowing to smell your enemies(visually not literally!) before you turn around the corner and see the warmth of patrol's footprints.

This is an excellent game, with cool fight sequences, an edge of stealth and eye warming graphics, i reccomend this to anyone who liked the films or liked the comics! But dont get me wrong! The game is accessible to anyone, X men fan or not, the game explains itself incredibly well. In conclusion, buy this game!!
