Amazon.co.uk Review

The producers of the American Pie movies pushed their luck with a third slice of their lucrative raunchy comedy franchise, but American Wedding cooked up surprisingly well. It's the sourest serving of Pie, with half of the original cast missing, and there's something undeniably desperate about comedic highlights (involving dog poop, a lusty old lady, two strippers to offset the absence of Shannon Elizabeth, and the ill-advised use of a trimming razor) that arise more from obligation than inspiration, on the assumption that another penile mishap is guaranteed to please. And yet, that's just what this movie does for devoted Pie-munchers: it gives 'em what they want, especially when the notorious Stifler (Seann William Scott) nearly ruins the frantic nuptials of Jim (Jason Biggs) and his band-camping sweetheart Michelle (Alyson Hannigan). Eugene Levy and Eddie Kaye Thomas also return for some reliable comic relief, but the one who's laughing most is three-time Pie writer Adam Herz--all the way to the bank. --Jeff Shannon

DVD Description

This time, they’re going all the way …

The outrageous characters loved by audiences the world over reunite one more time for a very special occasion: American Pie: The Wedding. Jim and Michelle are getting married … Stifler is planning a bachelor party and of course, Jim’s dad is always on hand with his fantastic fatherly advice. The American Pie posse return with their unmistakable blend of excruciating embarrassment and hysterical humour. So if you want to learn what not to do on a night out in a gay bar, to hear why sex with Granny is never a good thing and why pubic hair and wedding cake is a bad combination – you’re in the right place.

4.0 out of 5 stars Final Instalment?, 6 Dec 2003
By "depa4d" - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Firstly this film was never going to live up to the original Pie film as the original was...well...original! The format is getting tired now, especially since it's the third installment and so the jokes are wearing thin. But having said that this film doesn't need to be compared to the other two as it stands up well by itself, it was obviously never going to out-do the first two in the hilarity stakes and once you realise that you can sit back and still thoroughly enjoy a great film.

This Pie sees Jim taking his girlfriend from bandcamp, Michelle, up the aisle thus the film sets the pace at the beginning with a hiliarious proposal scene in a restraunt. From then on in you just know the wedding is going to be one disaster after another, especially when Stifler (the ever brilliant Sean William Scott) decides to join in with the fun. The only problem with this Pie is that some of the original cast is missing, this isn't a major loss as all the old favourites do return such as Finch, Stifler, (and his mum) and Kevin. The film also sees the return of the superbly cast Eugene Levy as Jim's dad who once again manages to put his foot into it at almost every opportunity. But of course the real star of the show is Sean William Scott as the over-excited and annoying Stifler who steals all the best lines but essentially makes this installment so funny- especially in the scenes with a grandma and a 'truffle.'

Overall this film is still extremelly funny, there was never a point of more than ten minutes when I wasn't laughing out loud- definately worth buying if you already have the other two and certainly worth considering if you havn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Pie, 22 Jan 2004
There's nothing missing from this really. Most of the characters are a bit more grown up, Michelle is a lot less irritating than in the previous films. Stifler though - well he hasn't changed. His antics drive the film, the other characters seem to take a supporting role. There are, of course, strippers in lieu of Shannon Elizabeth, and a manic stag night which kicks off without the groom being there. The extras are pretty good as well (I have the Region 1 unrated version) with some good outtakes. If you liked the other films then you will love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Finale!!!!!!, 29 Nov 2003

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
American Pie 3:AW has not been given enough credit. In fact, that is the understatement of the CENTURY! This movie is absolutely hilarious from start to finish, and when it does finish you can't help but feel sad that the trilogy is complete. With AP1&2 in the bag, and Wedding about to become just as popular, there could very easily be a fourth but it might be best to quit while they're ahead.

This movie sees the return of the entire cast with the exceptions of Oz (who is not really missed), Vicky (who shouldn't have even been in the first 1), Stifler's brother, and Nadia (who is most definitely missed by me ;))

Seriously, the story is really quite good, and the performances are fully above par with the rest of the franchise. They really wanted to finish on a winner....and they have.

There are some fantastic moments in this one, from Stifler becoming a nice guy and fixing everything after he messes up the flowers, Stifler having a strange sexual encounter in a closet.... (yuk), and Stifler dancing on stage in a gay club. Yes, thats right, most of this episode is centred on Stifler....and Seann William Scott is on top form. Kevin tied to a chair with two call girls is hilarity. Jason Biggs and Alison Hannigan are a great couple......but I have to say, the real stars of this show are the parents and the dogs :) :) :) if you haven't seen it yet I wont spoil it but have a spare pair of undies ready......
