This is the best CD I've bought in a while. I bought this because the pianist was my piano teacher some years ago, but discovered a new series of composers who I had never heard before in an excellent performance. Albanian music doesnt receive much press here, but the music on this CD certainly deserves a wider audience. It is 20th century music, all tonal, capturing Albanian folk melodies and rhythms but also with the extra impact serious composers can bring to such themes. The pianist brings the music to life with virtuosity and sensitivity making music that is both dazzling and evocative.
