Evolution is a collection of Dead or Alive's singles for Epic, including their debut "Misty Circles"; their first hit, the KC-cover "That's The Way (I Like It)"; their trans-Atlantic Stock, Aitken and Waterman-produced smash "You Spin Me Round"; and several poorly received late-1980s offerings including "Come Home with Me Baby" and "Turn Round and Count 2 Ten" (the last two having been given a righteous 2003 freshen-up). As expected, the early hits, frantic pop updates of Giorgio Moroder's lush arrangements and insistent sexual rhythms still stand out. As do frontman Pete Burns' wit and flamboyance, which made him a major star in Japan years after the UK scene had so foolishly left him behind. --Dominic Wills
