4.0 out of 5 stars A Driver's Game, 4 April 2003
I like this game. Graphics and sound are nothing to shout home about but the physics on the way the car behaves is top notch. You can see the scuttle shake from an open top sportscar like the Lotus 7, and the suspension effects when you go over bumps and rolls around corners. The car won't steer properly if you hit a bump, or if you brake too hard and lock up the wheels. Like the title says, it is challenging. Maybe too much for some if you prefer the arcade style of driving from Project Gotham and Colin McRrae 3.
You have a good range of cars to choose from and to unlock. Ranging from hatchbacks to F1, be it only Lotus or cars Lotus help developed, and they do suffer from crash damage. Cars and damage is not quite the same level of detail as in Colin McRae 3 but bits and wheels do fly off when you crash, and unlike in CMR 3 it does affect the car.
Landscapes are detail and accurate with a few effects like the light changes when the cloud blocks the sun or the glare from the sun when you are facing it.
My only real gripe is the sound which I think is a bit hollow and weak, particularly during Replay. And there is no option to play your own music.
Overall a good game but its more for your car enthusiast.

1.0 out of 5 stars Prepare for boredom!, 25 April 2004

(REAL NAME)
Having read a customer review here I was hoping for a realistic drivingexperience, along the lines of a updated F355 Challenge on the Dreamcast. I was disappointed.
'Scuttle Shake' occurs on many old sportscars at high speed, not on everycar at every speed. Driving skill requires taking the racing line andcornering as fast at the car can take it, not just pointing the car at thecorner and occationally having to brake. As far back as 1992 EA managedto get accurate car models in 'Car & Driver' yet this game doesn't managethem. Increasing difficulty usually requires a better standard of drivingto win, rather than just having a faster car. There's no settings tochange on the cars, the /is/ the Proton Lotus, but no Lotus Sunbeam ...and so on.
Put simply - if you want a racing simulation buy TOCA RD2. If you likeLotuses get PGR2. If you like wasting your time buy this game - I feelsorry for Lotus having their name on this product.
