Amazon.co.uk Review
Nine years is a long time for any group of Friends to stick so closely together, but somehow the gang are still as daftly charming as ever. After the birth of Emma, Rachel comes to terms with being a mother surprisingly well. It's how everyone else deals with it that makes things interesting. Joey's accidental proposal creates weird friction between him and Ross, who breaks his finger throwing the show's first ever punch. Monica becomes desperately broody and attempts all manner of convoluted ways of persuading Chandler to catch her baby-fever (unfortunately he inadvertently bankrupts them in a move to Tulsa!). Phoebe, on the other hand, occupies herself in the dating game, holding on to Mike (Paul Rudd) in the longest guest star relationship anyone's ever had. Other surprise guests this year include Freddie Prinze Jr as an overly sensitive nanny (in the 200th episode), Christina Applegate as another of Rachel's sisters and Jeff Goldblum playing himself on the set of another movie on which Joey is trying to get a break.

As always the sparks occasionally fly between Rachel and Ross, while the others manage to strain their own relationships to the max. The real reason for watching now is the one-off kooky scenarios in which they--or rather Joey--get into. His endless dating finally sees him stuck for remembering if he's already slept with a girl; he botches an attempt at eyebrow waxing; and he manages to make Chandler think Monica's after a breast enhancement. On the strength of this series, it looks like Friends will be keeping us company for some time yet to come. --Paul Tonks

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Start To A Brilliant New Series, 17 Feb 2003
By S. M. Jady "sjme" (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After the dramatic episodes of previuos series of Friends could series nine be as hilarious as the previous eight. the answer is yes.

This series starts off with the episode 'The One Where No One Proposes' This episode is the aftermath of Emma's Birth were rachel thinks shes engagde to Joey much to Ross' dismay. It also includes scenes where Chandler and Monica are trying to get pregnant much to Monica's fathers delight. He gives them tips on how to get pregnant.
In 'The One Where Emma Cries' Rachel learns the hard way that you shouls never wake a sleeping baby. Rachel starts to feel that she isnt any good as a mother and its up to Monica to bring her hopes up. Also in this episode Chandler agrees after falling asleep in a meeting to move to Tulsa much Monica's dismay. She doesnt want to go and gets a job in Manhattan so she doesnt have to. Also Ross has a fight with Joey over his accidental propsal to Rachel. Ross breaks his thumb leading Joey to believe that Chandler doesnt not know how to fight.
In 'The One with The paediatrician' Rachel discovers that Ross still sees his paediatrician after she gets fired by her own because she rings that up all hours of the day and night. Joey and Phoebe arrange dates for one another which ends in disaster when Joey forgets and picks a complete stranger from the coffee house called Mike.
In the final episode on this video 'The One with The Sharks' Monica believes on a trip to Tulsa to see Chandler that her husband is into shark movies. Phoebe and Mike become an item after the disaster that was their first date. Joey becomes concerned that a girl he once slept with doesnt remember him and Phoebe reflects on why she has never been in a long term relationship.
The four episodes on this video are excellent. they continue the Friends humour that is shown in all of the preceding series. This video is a must for all Friends Fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friends series 9, 30 Nov 2003
By A Customer
I think that friends is excellent entertainment for a range of ages. It is one of the few successful long running series, after 9 series i think it is still wonderfully humerous and i would recommend it to anyone. I also still think that there best series was series 7 or 8, but series nine has shown more of joey's daft humour (excellent), phoebes kookiness, monicas cleaning obbsessions, rachels mothering skills, chandlers witt and ross' plain annoyingness. I await series 10 with anticipation.

1.0 out of 5 stars I don't get it, 6 April 2003
By A Customer
It's just not funny. I was never a huge fan, but even so, it's long since run its course. At least shows like Seinfeld have the integrity to stop while they're in their prime, thus avoiding the sickening decline and crazed moneygrabbing of the stars, safe in the knowledge their devote fans will shovel up any old rubbish they throw at them.

Sad.

Sad.

Sad.
