Of the three fortepiano recordings of Winterreise I have heard, this is my favourite. The sound of the Graf fortepiano is wonderfully atmospheric, with a coldness that perfectly matches the mood of the piece. The only disadvantage is that some of the songs are a little rushed; total running time is 63'30", compared to around 73' for many other recordings.
