When I first heard Tribalistsas' cut "Carnavalia" on the radio, I wanted to hear more. So I bought the CD and now listen to it frequently. Another favorite is the catchy "Passe Em Casa," from guest artist Margareth Menezes. This CD does supposedly represent the best of Brazilian pop, and features three of Brazil's hottest stars: Arnaldo Antunes' vocals, Marisa Monte's guitar, and Carlinhos Brown on the piano, bass, and vocals. The trio does create an unbelievable rich, gentle, and subtle melange of vocals and instrumentation; the percussion is wonderful.

Tribalistas combined efforts bring the terrific contemporary music of Brazil to life. This is mellow sound that encourages you to chill-out, and dream. I recommend it. ENJOY!! Aprec�e!

Carlinhos Brown, Arnaldo Antunes and Marisa Monte are well-known contemporary Brazilian artists who had never made a cd together, until "Tribalistas". They met almost by chance in March 2001 in Salvador de Bah�a (Brazil) and composed quite a few songs. Some of those songs were recorded by them a year later, and this album is the result of that great effort. In my opinion, "Tribalistas" is the kind of album you cannot help but enjoy, even if you don't understand Portuguese (the language in which these artists sing). This cd blends the different styles and voices of the artists that participate in it, and the final result is awesome, filled with rhythm and intensity.

Personally, I liked many of these songs, but my favourites are probably "Carnav�lia" (a song that makes me think of the Brazilian carnival, "Vem pra minha ala que hoje a nossa escola vai desfilar, vem fazer hist�ria que hoje � dia de gl�ria neste lugar, vem comemorar, escandalizar ningu�m, vem me namorar vou te namorar tamb�m, vamos pra avenida, desfilar a vida, carnavalizar"), "Passe em casa" ("Passam p�ssaros e avi�es e no ch�o os caminh�es, passa o tempo, as esta��es, passam andorinhas e ver�es") and "Ja sei namorar" ("T� te querendo como ningu�m, t� te querendo como Deus quiser, t� te querendo como te quero, t� te querendo como se quer"). If you are really interested in the lyrics and you can't speak Portuguese, you can either search for a translation or learn Portuguese :)

I believe that Brown, Antunes and Monte have made an excellent cd in this, their first collaboration, and that you will be lucky to have it. On the other hand, you may like only some songs, so just in case try to check it out in a store before buying it. On the whole, I think you should at least listen to it, and reach your own decision. "Tribalistas" might have some of your future favourite songs, just waiting for you :)

Some of Brazil's best solo artists collaborate to form "Tribalistas" on this epic album. Feed your soul, buy it. Every track is a classic in its own right and soon enough you will be learning portuguese. The lyrics powerfull, the instuments pure and the language highly emotive. Listen to the album alone on a beach or in the park and let the music reflect the nature around you, it is truly spiritual.
