After the quirky self titled Fantastic Plastic machine comes Luxury, the next collection from ex-Pizzicato 5 member Tomoyuki Tanaka. An essentially unknown DJ in the UK, his music has been brought to life in the UK TV series 'Spaced', which included some FPM music on the soundtrack.
The album begins wuth the highly upbeat 'Intro to Luxury', a short little ditty where it seems the piano players are on speed, and this then blends into a remix of the Eurythmics' 'There must be an Angel', which wouldn't be totally out of place in a lounge bar...
Whilst there are numerous different styles on the album, the better tracks are the more upbeat and heavy-hitting ones... 'Lady Machine' is seriously cheesy, but infectiously catchy, and 'You Must Learn All Night Long', undoubtably the stand out track from the album for which a single was released, easily outperforms such UK equivalents as Fatboy Slim for the musical talent and sheer diversity on display.

Overall, you'll buy this, and want to skip through some of it, but the rest of it is a pleasure to listen to. Like an After Eight Mint, it's much better after dinner!
