The Kenwood KM300 Chef Mixer has a unique planetary mixing action within the bowl for perfect results. It has three inclusive mixing tools for specific baking tasks (K-beater, whisk and dough hook), automatic electronic speed control with pulse to maintain speed and power regardless of load, a metal body, metal gears and powerful motor for combined durability, reliability and strength, a simple "pop-up" head lift for quick and easy tool change and bowl removal and four power outlets for over 20 optional food-preparation attachments. The KM300 has a 4.4 litre D-shaped Kenlyte bowl for easy pouring.

The Kenwood Chef is the workhorse of my kitchen. I make bread every day and do a lot of baking at weekends. I wish I had more time to use the extra attachments. I have used the bean stringer to shred peel for marmalade, I use the liquidiser frequently when making soup and the ice-cream maker when there is room in my freezer. It is easy to keep clean and simple to use. I did have a bread making machine but cast it aside for my Chef. Breadmaking is no more difficult made with the Chef and my family much prefer the end result. I just wouldn't be without my Chef.

I've had my Chef for a few years now and it's an absolute mainstay in the kitchen. However I would mention that, with time, the layer of white paint is beginning to flake off at the bottom of the mixer so I would suggest anybody buying a long term investment might look at mixers that aren't coated in paint. Must be the steamy kitchen atmosphere. We've also had to replace the plastic shield - invaluable, but breaks if you don't put the lid down properly while the mixer is going. Perfectly reasonable, but it's the sort of thing that would happen in a busy family household with kids and husbands ....

I bought a Kenwood chef 300 2years ago to replace my old one which was bought in 1976. The new one has flaked paint, the bowl is such poor quality that it has become very rough and unhygienic. The D shaped bowl makes mixing much less thorough and you have to be always scraping down the sides. The new shape K beater just chases the mixture around the bowl. The liquidiser which came with this machine is made of poor quality plastic and the shaft in the base has already sheared off. I bought the Multimill attachment as well but this is impossible to clean properly. There is a serious dirt trap around the rim and I certainly would not risk using it for baby food as recommended. The old one was a robust, if noisy, workhorse. The new one has had styling changes for the sake of them. It does not work as well.
