Manufacturer's Description

Russell Hobbs Classic 4 Slice Toaster Satin

The new Russell Hobbs Classic Satin 4 Slice Toaster not only boasts classic designer looks, it creates delicious toast which is crisp on the outside and moist on the inside.  At  This stylish toaster also a bun warmer, making it an ideal addition to any busy kitchen.

As well as making great toast, the Classic Satin 4 Slice Toaster has extra large variable width slots for thick or thin bread and a bread carriage lever with an extra lift facility for toasting smaller bread products.  The re-heat and frozen bread settings ensure that any kind of bread can be turned into delicious toast, fast.  A separate ‘bagel light’ takes the guesswork out of toasting bagels and gives you the same degree of browning you like on your toast.

The Toaster also features an independent two slice operation, should only two slices of toast be required and also features two variable browning controls, ideal if toasting four slices of bread and two slices are preferred at a different degree of browning. A separate bun warmer with handles can be placed on top of the toaster for heating other bread products such as buns and croissants.  The browning control is set between 2-3 and and the bread carriage handle lowered as for toasting bread.  When the bread carriage handle pops up, remove the warmed buns.

The Classic Satin 4-Slice Toaster has also been designed with easy care and maintenance in mind.  A removable crumb tray slides out from the base for easy cleaning bun warmer can be washed in warm soapy water ready for using again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Toaster, 12 Feb 2004
By Mel (Hartfield, East Sussex) - See all my reviews
Having been the proud owner of the previous model of this toaster, I can only sing its praises. It looks stylish and it works! The variable browning works every time and toast is done to a T. Unfortunately, it has finally given up the ghost after several years constant use by a family of 5, I am now ordering the new model. I like the re-designed buttons on the bottom panel, previous model's buttons were a bit tricky to clean around. Did the previous reviewee not read the instructions, there are two very easy to remove crumb trays - brilliant!!

1.0 out of 5 stars awful toaster, 28 Dec 2005
By Charles Jones "chas27" (uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
bought this toaster largely because of the reviews on this site.
how dissapointing, the toast is never toasted sufficiently no matter how high the setting.
when making crumpets a knife or other implement is needed to retrieve from toaster because it doesnt pop up high enough.
all in all very dissapointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid this at all costs..., 24 April 2006
We needed a four slicer and this looks the part - but that's about all it does well. After only a couple of months the second 'rack' is very reluctant to even start to push down and when it does, it's reluctant to stay down.

Even worse though is that it doesn't make very nice toast. I'm not sure what the science of toasting is - I guess it's a balance of Watts x time - whatever it is, they got it wrong as the Kenwood it replaced made nicer toast. I suspect that it's underpowered and the bread dries out 'cos it's in for too long, but I didn't do a BA in Toast Technology, but I do have 40 years exerience as a toast user.

Channel Five's Gadget Show did a massive test of toasters - if you can find a Swann, then buy it as it was the unanimous winner of the panel AND a catering college. I'm not sure what it looks like (I didn't see the show) but it beat the expensive Dualit thingies hands down. I'll get one one day, and enjoy dumping the Russell Hobbs.
